Hey everyone - I have an informative meeting next thursday about lapband, and i'm really excited about it. however, i'm a college student and i'm just wondering what the time frame on recovery is? would i be able to have surgery on thursday and be back to classes by monday? or are we talking a few weeks. i know it's less that with gastric bypass, but i do not know anyone who has had this procedure, so this is ALL totally new for me. any info would be greatly appreciated! thanks!!

oh yeah, also, are you able to get pregnant after you have lapband?

My friend had the lap band and she went home the next day. She was walking around by the 4th day.

I went home after 24 hours or so. I was walking the very first day about 2 hours after surgery, and it is encouraged - to get the gas out of your system. I think I might have been a freak because I was able to get around very quickly - but I don't think I'd be able to sit for long periods of time. So, if your classes are 50 mins and you only have 1 per day, you might be able to go back. But it depends on the person and how you feel.
