mesotherapy

  • so... i was with my mum one time in her doctor's. we were talking about weight loss (for me particularly!) and he suggested mesotherapy (after losing the majority of the poundage). at first i was like "what is that?" and so he explained that it is a procedure that doesn't require surgery at all. what they do is they inject (a lot of injections) some sort of solution into the area you are having trouble with and it sort of "melts" the fat away. and also, it inflates the skin (so skin won't sag... and i also read that this is also used for body sculpting).

anyone here who's had that done? or is considering it?
  • Please be cautious and research it before you consider doing it. It is NOT FDA approved and there are some horrific stories about bad results. From what I've read, some doctors are making a ton of money off it but many reputable plastic surgeons aren't touching it with a ten-foot pole. Just take your time and be sure you know what you might be getting into.
  • My PS recommended a MD to do this for me (a reputable one) but it is only for little areas mainly. I had above my elbows done for the little puff of fat that was still there after my armplasty. It involves loads of injections (like 10 in each arm on each trip and I had to have 5 sessions) it is painful and the area gets purple and swollen for a week or two afterwards and your sessions are supposed to be 2 -3 weeks apart so it can be a long time of puffy bruising. It is also very expensive. It cost me $1k and I don't think that the results were that great. IMHO not worth it and I wouldn't spend any more money on it.
Surgery was less painful, had quicker healing time and was less expensive, inch for inch.

If anyone can learn from my experience..... please do.
