Kier's one-year checkup!

  • so darlin, you tiny little person, how'd it go????? happy anniversary!!!!
  • Funny you should ask. I spent my 1 year in the ER. It was actually pretty lucky.
Thursday we went to the city spent part of the day at DH's old job (where I conveniently met a potential illustrator for my kid's book)
We went to lunch at some mexican chain called Chipotles and remember the strange waist pain I had? After 4 bites rife with MSG I started getting pain by 3:45 it was full blown. We got to the doc office i couldn't even stand to get into the bathroom. I was having a gall bladder attack.
Some ER Time and a CT scan later They found My small intestines were bunched up high. Long story short I had adhesions. They were cut out yesterday and I came home last night. I think it was fate I had the pain on the way to the doc and probably would have chalked it up to gas again if I had been at home.
It was definitely exciting! I'm sure I'll be having a follow up soon!
    Kier
  • Take care, Kier! I'm glad you got the medical treatment you need. Now, just heal, girl!

  • well good grief!!!! no wonder you've been having problems eating!!! so glad you're out and WELL!!!!!!!
  • Well as we were heading to the ER i said to DH. . .Leave it to me to keep life exciting! I'm definitely focussing more now On staying well (or getting back there) and making sure I have all that's necessary to help me function through the day!
this process is supposed to be about reclaiming health and functionality. I think my intestinal twistage was definitely setting off some other systems in my body so hopefully now that I'm back remapped correctly I can work on feeling good and having energy again!
three funny things that i knew I was going to be ok when I was in the hospital
1 as you all know my name is Kieran. First one of my doc's surgical residents to come up to me Her name is Ciara (the female version of my name <Tho I'm female>)
2 One of my best friends is an MD PHD student (I love smart peeps) she's from Russia. I'm in the pre-op waiting area one of the nurses came over not only did she sound like Alex she looked liked her and was from the same part of Russia (greater russian/formersoviet area) that Alex was from!
    Suddenly I wasn't so terrified
3 and I'm on the table in the OR and ppl are showing me baby pics on their phones and I'm telling a new grandma how to email herself the pics of her beautiful Grandbaby!
As a general rule bad things don't happen when you're looking at baby pics they just don't!
I try to look at obstacles as gifts.
Granted. . . I feel like absolute poop on a stick. But *knock on wood* I'm fixed.
I feel really positive for whatever is to come! Bring on year 2!!
