Miso Soup, Seaweed Salad, and Calamari Salad

  • Hii, for anyone who loves sea food and soup, afcsushi also known as "Southern Tsunami Sushi Bar" ... (in my case, located inside of Publix), offers great and healthy sushis, rolls, etc!

    Among my favorites:

1.) Miso Soup (only 35 Calories)

    2.) Seaweed Salad (113 Calories)

    3.) Calamari Salad (148 Calories)

4.) Eel Roll Sushi, 12 pieces of rolls (435 Calories)

5.) Spicy Shrimp Roll, 12 pieces of rolls (397 Calories)

    * actually they have large varieties of sushi and other such foods... but just stay away from anything fried like shrimp tempura roll.

  • I LOVE seaweed salad. Does anyone know how to make it at home?
  • I love Japanese food, especially sushi, but just be careful of the fat content in some of those even if they're not fried. The fat in sushi is generally "good" fat, but it's easy to eat too much because they're so bite-sized. I can't post links yet, but you can do a google search for the article "Not all sushi stacks up as healthy fare" (in the Honolulu Advertiser) to get a good idea of fat content.

If you're like me and love Japanese and love cooking, I picked up a book last Christmas that lately I've been loving: "Japanese Women Don't Get Old or Fat." (I feel like it's all my recent posts have talked about, but I've been really impressed with the recipes in it and have been using it a lot recently). Found myself braving the Japanese market here in Manhattan today to pick up ingredients to make some yummy stuff this week I don't remember a seaweed salad recipe specifically, but there are some other salad-y recipes, including a great spinach one. Anyway, good luck!
  • Mmmmmmmm, calamari salad. Now that sounds good.
