Hi Everyone,
I am new and happy to be here. I'm working really hard at getting in shape and losing weight and I can tell this is a good place to get inspired!
I'm 41 and I have been struggling with weight issues for over 10 years now and I've had enough. On Jan. 1, 2007 I decided the time had come to really get serious and I embarked on a fitness and weight loss program that I devised for myself. Exercise was never an issue for me...I've been working out fairly consistently since about 1985. I am a big fitness video collector, have a workout room in my house which I use about 5 days/week. It's the diet that I need the most work with.
So after trying all kinds of diet programs which I was not able to stick with, I decided that I would try something simple...counting calories. I found a calorie calculator on-line that helped me determine what my daily requirement should be to lose weight at a moderate pace (1800/calories a day) and I've been doing a "zig-zag" method...so I don't eat 1800 exactly every day (some days more, some days less) but my weekly calorie total is the same as if I ate 1800/day.
I've been consistent about 6 months out of 8 so far and I've lost about 30 pounds and 18 inches. I am about 1/3 way to my goal. I'd really like to lose a bit more before the holidays hit.
Anyway, happy to be here and hoping to be a regular contributor!

Hello from Northern Maine I 'm glad you are here.I know all too: well the
part and I know that
and portion control go hand in hand. Some one told me it takes 3 weeks to change a habit so I've been one week exercising and doing portion control and I lost 1 pound
So I know it can be done and I know you can you do it. This is a great site with very supportive people and a wealth of info so come on in,pull up a seat and grab a cup of joe.
. Look forward to getting to know you.
