When is the best time to weigh yourself??

  • I weigh myself in the morning and I weigh less ... but then I weigh myself later and I weigh more .. later such as at night. When is the best time to weigh yourself to get accurate results?
  • There is a lot of different opinions on this - for me - I do it once a week - once every two weeks now actually - at the same time (Sunday morning). I think doing it daily is a waste of time because your weight does fluctuate depending on what you have eaten, fluid intake, salt, going to the bathroom , etc. I think once a week gives you a good overall picture of where you are at.
  • I don't think it really matters as long as you do it under the same circumstances every time. Every morning before breakfast, just for an example. That way you'll be able to have an accurate way to judge your long term progress.
Personally, I weigh every morning, very first thing. However, I only record it once per week so I can see clear results from one week to the next.

That's about what I was going to say! I weigh in the morning, in my undies, after my morning bathroom break. Then I get dressed and go have breakfast.

Just make sure when you weigh, its the same time or close to it and keep in mind what you eat does affect your weight (if you weigh after a meal, eating different things on different days will affect that).
  • I weigh every morning, in the nude, after a bathroom break. I don't have a certain weigh-in day.

When I see some loss that encourages me to try harder to maintain that weight.
  • Its just frustrating because I weigh myself in the morning and one day I weigh 214lbs and the next I weigh 216lbs. Its like where did that extra weight come from. I just really hope that I can lose this weight and keep it off. I dont know how I did it before but I need advice as to what to do
  • I tend to weigh everyday unless I am going thru an "avoid the scale" phase. Usually those are not good for me because then I have usually gained something. I am currently weighing everyday but only recording one day per month. I picked that day because after several months of tracking I notice that tends to be one of my lowest days.

Your weight is going to flucuate on a daily basis. If seeing the different numbers is bringing you down then don't weigh everyday. Your cycle influences the scale. Salt and sugar/carb intake will influence the number on the scale. Some workouts will make you weigh more if your muscles are holding water to repair. There are no hard and fast rules about weighing but the best is to pick a time of day and a scale and stick with it.
