  • I was thinking I might never get to post in this section because I dont HAVE a "goal weight" per se. But then today I opened an envelope....

    Back story:

When my dad died in 2004 he had lifestyle diseases including lung cancer, diabetes II, heart disease, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. His poor health dictated almost our entire relationship. When he died I was 180 lbs and had a 10 month old daughter.

Because of the chemicals I worked with at my first job I got my first cholesterol screening at age 21...slightly overweight and sedentary and it was high

When I was 31 I got my cholesterol screened. I was a little less over weight and a little more active and it was exactly the same...but my HDL was good so they didnt do anything

When I was 35 and temporarily sedentary (injured), and overweight I got my cholesterol screened and it was even higher and my HDL had gone to crap and my triglycerides were borderline - but I was planning on getting pg soon so they didnt do anything.

When I was 31 my fasting blood sugar was 100 (borderline), When I was 34 it was 110 (insulin resistant)

    ---

Today I opened an envelope that told me that my total cholesterol is 174 and my HDL is 61 and my triglycerides are 46. And my fasting blood sugar is 80 (normal).

And I realized that I made goal. I wanted to lose weight first and foremost because I wanted to be healthy for me and my 2 darlings.

The rest is just gravy. (Or I should say the rest is just salad dressing because I never liked gravy)
