Not loosing weight - advice wanted.

  • I know I shouldn't be worrying about a plateau just yet but I was wondering if a couple of people could look at my intake and offer suggestions and/or ideas about my two week stall. I seem to be doing everything right this week and my weight seems to be staying the same - even going up a little. I am not sure what the problem is but I welcome ideas for improvement.

In addition to what's listed, I also take a daily multi-vitamin and calcium supplement.
  • Hi

We can't see your food intake from that link, since we are not logged into your account. Do you mind posting a sample menu here, with your average calories?
  • Sorry.

    This should work.

  • From what I noticed, your calories can go anywhere from just under 1000 a day, all the way above 2000 calories-and everywhere inbetween just in the past week and a half.

If you average that out over the course of the week, your average is about 1500 a day give or take...and the average is what counts.

Are you exercising at all? Since you don't have a lot to lose, you are going to have to do two things-start exercising, or increase it slightly if you are already exercising...and get your calorie average down over the week. The closer you get to your goal, the harder it is to keep a good calorie deficit going (burning more each day than you eat) so you are going to have to drop your calories down a bit. The days that you are getting 1200-1500 are perfectly fine...it is the days inbetween where the calories are over 2000 that are screwing you up, and then you aren't showing any losses for the week.
  • I agree with Aphil. I'm having the same problem that I see on your journal. I have lots of really good days, then a high day once or twice a week, and it's that high day (or two) that are keeping me from losing. If I could be more consistent I would see a more regular loss. You might too.
  • I think I realized the problem shortly after I orginally posted this. My biggest weakness is going out to eat and drinking wine in the evenings. I used to go out a few times a week and from my new knowledge about calories, I figure I had to be getting over 2000 calories each meal. I am working on cutting that out right now and learning how to manage my wine better. I also realized that I haven't been getting as much exercise these past few weeks (usually I walk during lunch and ride my bike on the weekends but things have been more hectic lately. Actually though, I finally did drop a pound and a half. Not sure why.

    Thanks for the advice.
