Thin4Life - Aug. 20/07

  • Good morning ladies. I am starting the thread early (Sunday morning) because I will be out of town on business Monday and Tuesday. I want to get back into the habit of regular posting here because I think it helps me to stay on track.

Melissa: Sounds like it was a beautiful wedding. So sorry about your necklace. It makes me crazy when I lose things...

Lisa: Hope that the majority of the gain was water and that is is gone by now.

I am going out for a run this morning. First one in over a week as I injured my foot last weekend. It's feelng much better; no more excuses!

My weight..well... not even going to go there. I feel like a slug. Hope to get back on track this week. I will check in again on Wednesday.

    Have a good one.

    Susan
  • Hey ladies, can I join you? I am a WW Lifetime Member who fell off the wagon, got back on, and am almost back at goal once again (see bottom ticker!)
  • Lori, you are most welcome to post here. We all have our struggles.

Susan, thanks for starting the thread and we'll hear from you upon your return. How did you hurt your foot?

I think the water gain is gone and I was really watching it last week. Keep your fingers crossed; I'm headed to WI tonight.
  • Susan: Thanks for getting the thread up and running this week! Yes, the wedding was beautiful and I'm glad everything went well. Things should start to quiet down a little now.

Lisa: How did your WI go? I sure hope the gain disappeared for you!

Lori: Welcome to our group!! I've been a LT member since '99 and recently have been struggling and my weight has been creeping up. I've been frustrated and need to figure out what's going on. I've never had a problem with maintaining my weight loss prior to this past year. Congratulations on taking the steps to getting back to your goal!

It's been raining here since Sunday and it's pretty dismal--yesterday was downright chilly and this morning it's not much better. Tomorrow the heat and humidity are supposed to return. DS #2 is at football camp all week and he called his brother and told him that he shaved his head; it's not like his hair was that long to begin with but it's going to be interesting to see him bald at the end of the week!

I tried on a pair of pants this morning and was totally discouraged--they were snug and they're a pair that were always loose *sigh* I'm putting a call into my doctor because even with the increased dose in my synthroid I'm still tired and my weight is still inching up. I haven't been snacking like I had been doing in the past and I'm not sure what else is going on. I'm really frustrated.
  • Hi, Melissa. My WI went well. I'm glad I waited a week. I was up 1/2 #. That was a relief. The leader said "shoot, that could be barometric pressure!" We both laughed. I have no idea what was going on last week with that gain I was showing. You're having chilly weather--that's unusual isn't it?

Sorry about your weight and the pants. It could be your thyroid meds or it could be hormones. I notice that it's a lot harder to lose weight now I'm menopausal. What say you, Susan? Do you agree?
  • Thanks for the warm welcome I went to WI last night and was down 2.2 since my last official WW WI (which was 2 weeks ago). I'm really happy considering I know I went up since then, and then back down. Plus, my normal WI day is Saturday and first thing in the morning, and I went on a Monday night

I'm going on vacation this weekend and I can't wait. This is my 10th day in a row of working, and I have two more ahead of me. Then I'm going to Vermont for the weekend. Plan on doing some hiking. Should be fun!

Melissa - good to hear you are going to the doc, especially if you have other health issues that could be effecting your weight.

Susan - How did you injure your foot? I'm a jogger, but I haven't been in two weeks because I injured my back. I have two bad discs, and I had a couple of days of jogging in a row where I guess I just pushed it because my back was killing me after that! I'm taking it easy, just doing walking for now. Then I'll get back to jogging.

Domina - Congrats on that 1/2 pound! Thats not bad at all if you were having some water weight issues the previous week.
  • Lori, Congrats on the loss. That's terrific. You're on your way. Vermont is very nice. Hope the weather is pleasant.
  • Good morning! Another dreary morning--it's supposed to get hot and humid later so we'll be back into summer just in time for the kids to be back in classes. It's nice to have the students back on campus--it was pretty quiet the past couple of weeks.

Lisa: Good job on your weight loss!! The cool weather is unusual for us right now--I'm hoping that Labor Day weekend turns out well. Last year we got hit with the remains of the hurricane and our festival got slammed. My girlfriend said it's been really hot down in FL; at least we're not sweltering! I'm thinking it's hormones, although when they did the blood test they said there wasn't anything going on and that they were "normal". In any case, I started my TOM again! It's only been 15 days so I called the doctor's office to let them know. I have an appointment on Tuesday for a biopsy for that fibroid but geesh, this is getting a little ridiculous! I feel bloated and frumpy today so goodness knows what's going to be reflected on the scale

Lori: Great job on your weight loss! You're doing great! A trip to Vermont sounds really nice. Where are you going? My DH and I are planning a trip to Maine in October and I'm counting down the days!

    Hi to Susan, Pam!
  • Melissa - We are going to Killington. We go up at least once a year there. But we are staying there only for 1 night, and then going farther north to stay with some friends at their cabin for the second night. I can't wait, I really need a vacation
  • Just wanted to post a quick note after my WW meeting today--I stayed the same this week and I'm okay with that, especially since my TOM arrrived again! I'm going to try and use the online tracker this week and be diligent with what I'm eating. My mantra this week is "focus, focus, focus"

Lori: My DH has been to Killington a number of times for skiing. We drove through the area a long time ago--it's beautiful. I can't blame you for looking forward to a weekend away. It does wonders for your emotional well-being! Have fun!
  • Lori: Welcome to the group. You are doing so well with your weight-loss; you'll be at goal before you know it. Nice to have another runner in the group. Have a great vacation - sounds like you deserve it!

Lisa: I hurt my foot at the beach. Must have walked on a shell or something. Anyway, it's fine now. I ran hills on Wednesday nite. My target was 3 and I did 5 so pretty happy with that. Hills are tough.

Melissa: My experience with menopause is that it is much more difficult for me to lose weight now. Efforts that always worked in the past just don't seem to have the same effect. Not that I can't lose weight, just that I have to work harder. I also read something this week that said the reduction in estrogen results in excess weight going to places where it can do more harm (i.e. abdomen). That's been my experience as well. Pants are tiiiiight.

My eating has not been good. I need a shake-up. I suspect standing on the scale will do it. Sigh...I am so tired of this struggle.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

    Susan
