What do you think of YOU and/or the Best Life diets?

  • I noticed this forum is getting a little quiet!

If you've tried YOU or the Best Life diets, how long did you follow them?

What did you like best about it?

Is there anything you dislike about the plans?
  • I have been doing the YOU plan (for the most part!) since January of this year. I have lost 80 pounds in 31 weeks, and I lOVE it. Reading the book, a lot of things just "clicked" for me. I have no doubt that this is the first time in my adult life that I will make it to my goal - and more important, STAY THERE. It is the first "plan" that I feel is doable for the rest of my life. NOT a diet.
  • i've been on best life since July 1 and so far I love it. I haven't introduced the exercise portion really to where I'm supposed to be at, but I have made changes in areas like parking far away, etc.

I've lost 13 pounds since July 1 and have 77 more to go but this is really the first program that i have believed that i can do it. i haven't weighed this "little" in 10 years!

Mrs. Quadcrew: CONGRATS on your accomplishment! I'm very happy for you! I can't wait to be where you are
  • I got and liked both books and gave both diets a try my problem is that the diets weren't clearly defined and I needed something more defined. If that makes sense.
  • Wow! Fantastic results! I am going to take a look at Bob Greene's diet after seeing him on Oprah. I love that he has phases and that the products that are on plan are clearly marked at the grocery stores.

    Anyway, way to go!!
  • I also have Bob's new book and wanted to start up. Anyone want to form a little group here?

I think Bob and Dr. Oz are just no nonsense viewpoints about eating healthy and moving. The basics, not trends. Lifestyle changes, not diets.
  • I love the best life diet.
I have been on the best life diet for 2 weeks now. I have lost 5 pounds. I saw him on the rachael ray show and bought his book. I agree. It is definetly about life style changes. I bumped my activity level to 3. I have been eating to! In phase one it really is not about cutting a large portion of calories its about staying commited, and making quick easy changes in your life. I am so happy with this book, and that I am not just on a diet, i am getting better and healthier for life.
  • I was Best-Lifing it in the spring, and really liked it. I loved that it wasn't a diet, that it was just old-fashioned healthy eating and exercise. I lost 7 pounds, not quickly, but they did come off. I the plateaued, but admittedly, wasn't very careful about sticking to the plan during the summer. But at least I maintained. Now I have started calorie-counting, to try to get a little more steady loss, and have lost 5 more, so I think I'll keep on with that. Thing is, I don't want to count every calorie for the rest of my life, so my plan is to go back to Bob Greene for maintenance.
  • I'm with Mrs. Quadrew. I have read YOU on a diet. I don't think of it as a diet but a way of life. I will also make it to goal for the first time in my adult life and never ever regain the weight. It just clicked after I read the book, more than once. I also eat the superfoods.
  • I just listened to it (got the audio book from the Library). I was looking for information than a diet. I love that a pound of muscle burns 40 times that of a pound of fat. Some of it was a bit too "medical" for me. I don't need to know ALL The details abotu the brain and hunger....
  • I know all the medical stuff can seem a bit overwhelming and over the top, but I love that it helps to explain why this all makes sense to eat better!

  • I am happy to see some positive experiences with BFLD - I'm starting it next week, as soon as the Biggest Loser challenge is over, so that I can go 4 weeks without weighing in, as Bob suggests. I'm encouraged that people are seeing some success with it.

I've really been drawn to the sensible, lifestyle-based approach. So many other diet plans aren't sensible - do I really see myself eating low carbs for the next 50+ years? Not likely! This, though, I think I can make into a sustainable lifestyle.

CrawlWalkRun, I'd love to get a group chat going with others!
