Movie Popcorn

  • Today I just ate horribly, despite packing a lunch and everything.

Anyhow, how many calories would you all estimate for a medium popcorn at the movies without added butter (but it must be popped with oil).

    ???

Do you think 1000 calories is enough to assign to it??
  • According to CalorieKing a medium movie theater popcorn w/no butter is 900 cals. So many calories but SO GOOD! Keep up the work and it's good that your keeping track of the cals even if you may have gone over. (I did bad this last weekend and had movie popcorn too!) Take care!
  • Anyone have any suggestions for something satisfying to eat during the movie, while my kids are happily munching on their popcorn?
  • My husband and I went to the movies a couple weekends ago and I picked up some Quaker Grahams or something like that. They were bite-sized and came in 90-calorie individual serving packages. I think they had hydrogenated oils in them, which I avoid like the plague normally, but it kept me away from the popcorn and that was my primary goal. 90 calories vs. 900 calories...not a tough decision!!!

  • We all went to the movies on Sunday and DS got popcorn. It smelled so good I had to have a handful. Ewwww, Gross! He got it buttered and all I could taste was the greasy, oily fake butter. No popcorn taste at all. Needless to say I had only that one small handful!
  • I love that fake buttery stuff. I always layer it on--some popcorn, some grease, popcorn, grease and lots of salt. It's very tasty.

Obviously I don't eat it often though, and when I do (about once a year), I just get the kid sized.
