Diet Software (Dietpower) that worked for me

  • I have been using a program called DietPower since mid-June. I have lost over 25 pounds with it. It is a calorie counter, but it has a large food database, to which you can add food and recipies. It also has an exercise database (which can be similarly updated). You set up the target weight and the date to reach that weight. The program will compute the number of calories you may eat per day, based on a 2000 basal metabolism. Calories burned in exercise offset calories eaten. As you progress, the program uses your weight and caloric intake to get your own metabolic rate. This worked very well for me, since I was actually able to have a higher caloric intake than I had originally planned. The program keeps records of your nutrients and will show the percent calories from Fat, Protein, and Carbohydrates. Several friends have tried it and have also lost weight. It is a good program and works in conjunction with any diet or plan. Their website is www.dietpower.com .
(I have no affiliation with this website).
  • love dietpower
I just downloaded the trial version of this. Have been using it for a week. Counting calories before has worked for me before but this makes it so much easier. It helps to be able to see how many calories you have left for the day and i feel like the exercising really counts when i can see the number of calories I'm burning. I've already lost some weight which i credit to using this.
But the trial only last 15 days and the full price is $50. Still debating on buying it. Been looking for something similar that cost less, no luck. So I guess I'll see!
  • I bought dietpower a year or more ago.

I had gotten it after I hit a plateau. I do like the program and it is very well set up. You can even create recipes and figure out how many calories per serving there are.

But, I can't say I've lost any weight using it. I don't think I tried too hard though, and right now I'm just tired of counting!

I know how much a serving is suppose to be. So, I'm going to see how it goes without counting for awhile, and if I go off track I'll boot Dietpower back up.

If you are going to count calories, it is a great program (no writer's cramp)
  • Great site...
    Hi all,

I found a great site called fitday.com. It's very easy to use and, best of all, it's free!

It lets you track food intake - calorie, fat, etc.; fitness; weight loss; nutrition and alot, lot more.

Give it a try and let me know what you think!

  • ski-doo: thanks so much for posting this. I too had checked out the diet power, but $50 bucks was alittle steep for something I may use once and then give up on LOL!! (I know how I am)
I have saved fitday to my favorites and will check it out tonight after work.

  • I looked at dietpower.com and I really liked what I saw. I use software called vivonic (vivonic.com) because I can use it on my palm and my pc. From the looks of it, dietpower seems a little better to me, but it has really helped me to be able to take my diet software with me everywhere on the palm.

  • IndyLauri,

They do have a trial that you can download for free. I think I got mine from cnet.com, but I also think that it is listed on Dietpower's website as well.

I think you get to try it for 30 days.
  • fitday.com

  • I have used dietpower since April, in less than 3 months I have lost 30 pounds! It is without a doubt the best $50 I ever spent! I love seeing the graph drop showing my loss. Plus when I am tempted to eat something that I shouldn't just logging it & see my calorie budget drop, makes me think twice about it. Every morning I put in everythin that I plan to eat so there are no surprises at the end of the day on how many calories I had. I recomend to anyone that asks how I have done it!
