Barricades to success

  • So I have been struggling with my weight for so long but until recently there was so many other "things" in the way that realistically losing weight was muddled & in behind the true priorities (ie. major depression, finding a job).

Anyway, now that I can honestly say the weight is the number one priority & goal in my life I am having difficulty with a few very specific barricades that are consistently my derailment. So I am going to get them into the open to help me get past them. Anyone want to join in?

    Barricades to success:

    1. Being unprepared
Solutions: prepare for the day the night before (I'm not a morning person)
    plan meals ahead of time

    2. Being overtired
Solutions: make sure I follow my sleep/wake schedule
    take naps when needed
    take my meds on schedule

    3. The house being messy
Solutions: make house cleaning a priority
get dh in on the planning
acknowledge when this is happening & don't allow it to derail me

Thanks for reading - anyone else want to give it a go?
  • Barricades to success:

    Barricade: Getting bored with food
Solution: Meal plan, try to home cook meals w/ new recipes

Barricade: Fear of losing weight w/ nothing to hide behind
Solution: Journal and Post on 3FC
  • These are my barricades:

    Barricade: Being unprepared
Solution: Pack lunch the night before, make a menu for the week, make a grocery list

Barricade: Lack of time to exercise
Solution: Sneak in 10 minute blocks of exercise throughout the workday; plan 30 minutes of exercise when I get home from work.

Barricade: The vending machine at work!!
Solution: Keep wallet in my purse; carry no cash

    Barricade: Eating while watching TV
Solution: Save some calories for after dinner, like for a Healthy Choice Premium Fudge Bar or a Weight Watchers Giant Cookies and Cream Bar

    Barricade: Eating out
Solution: Limit to 2 times a week max; make good choices

    Barricade: My HUGE sweet tooth!
Solution: Low-cal sugar free Jell-O or sugar free pudding

    Barricade: Being too tired
Solution: Get more sleep! In bed by 10:30 at the latest!

Barricade: No time for a good breakfast
Solution: Have quick things packed in my lunch cooler, like yogurt and fruit; make something quick to take like peanut butter on toast or hard boiled eggs

Barricade: Feeling unworthy of a healthy body
Solution: Self-pep talks, reading/posting on 3FC and other sites, tracking progress, not only in pounds but in inches and other measurable ways

    Barricade: Boredom at work
Solution: Find ways to keep busy; use down time to research web for nutrition and exercise related material; plan menus and grocery lists, sneak in exercise in the ladies room! LOL; plan food throughout the day that keeps me satisfied

Thanks for getting me thinking today!

    LMAO!!!

Boredom is a big problem for me at work too (guess where I am right now?!) I love the exercise in the ladies room idea!!! I am the only woman who works here so that room is all mine - great idea!
  • I can just see you guys exercising in the bathroom. Hee Hee. Go girls!

Barricade: nothing quick to grab and eat
Solution: have on hand low fat food available for grab

Barricade: Family wanting to go out to eat
Solution: stay home and cook low fat low cal food (not a big deal to me right now)

Barricade: Not wanting to exercise because it's hot and humid outside
Solution: Make myself get off my fat rear end and just do it!

Barricade: Not being able to find anything low fat in a convenient store at times
Solution: eat before leaving home, have low fat snacks in purse for the road
