first weigh-in since joining OA. 30 days abstinent

  • Yippee. I prayed like mad this morning for the willingess to accept whatever the scales showed. I tried to focus on what I have gained in OA this past 30 days.
    • I can actually feel the obsession for food lifting ever so slightly – just enough to keep me connected.
    • I feel physically a million times better in myself.
    • My appearance is better.
    • I have more energy.
    • I find it very very difficult to change but because of this, I need to connect to people which is great and keeps me humble and keeps me out of isolation.
    • I feel healing happen from using the tools – especially writing on this forum.
Weighed in at 3lbs less than when I began!!!
I’m delighted. I’m now 163lbs. Before joining OA, I went from 166 to 157 in one week of practal starvation. This made me very sick. And I put all those pounds on again in about 5 minutes.
Losing that 3lbs on a healthy programme which feels honest and right for me is so much more precious to me.
Can anyone tell me how I can change my ticker to show my weight loss? Thanks for the support.
  • Well done on a good, healthy loss.

If you go to the 'edit signature' option, you will see the text for your ticker. It contains all the information, and you should see three numbers - your start weight, current weight and goal weight. Just change the current number and save.
  • Congrats Searsha,

Three pounds is a very respectable, healthy rate of weight loss. This is my first week here and reading what you have gained in terms of understanding is very encouraging.

  • Hurray for you Searsha, how wonderful. I like your list of feelings too.
I weigh in on my birthday on August 10th, although I have been in the program about 6 weeks I will use this wt as my beginning wt. Now I know the program better and can use all my tools.

  • Searsha--Congratulations! What a wonderful job you're doing. It just seems like you're really on track. Keep up the good work and please keep stopping by here to continue to inspire those of us who are not quite there yet.

    Way to go!
  • Searsha-

You rock! Not only do you use the tools to strengthen your program, but you share what you've learned with others. You lost 3 lbs! Wow, you could have gained, you could have stayed the same...but you lost! And, you lost without starving yourself, being angry all month, or looking forward to a "diet" ending.
