Day 4 on Armour

  • Well today is day #4 on Armour thyroid...and I feel quite a bit better than I had been feeling on Synthroid. I am not at 100% by any means but it is now 2pm and I am not screamin for a nap, so that is a big plus. I am anxious to see just how well it ends up working after a few weeks. You know, when my body gets adjusted to it. But so far I am very incouraged.
  • StillTryin - that's great! I'm glad you are noticing a difference and that you are encouraged! that is just great!

just a little reminder - this is not gonna be a overnight thing. It's gonna take awhile to be 100%.

I know you've told me already - sorry - it slips my mind right now (I talk to a lot of people) but what dosage of Armour are you on now? and what dosage of synthetic were you taking before? - ok wait - I just found my answer to my questions and you're now taking 2 grains of Armour - ok.

    keep me posted :-)
    and take care,
    Cathy
  • Yep, 2 grains...
It has been 6days now and I do feel better, but not 100%.
I go back in 6 weeks to get my levels checked. I have been sleeping better and, maybe it is just me, but my eyes are not as DRY when I wake up in the morning now for 3 days...hmmmm may be a strange coincidence.
I have been able to stay busy and that sure helps the feeling tired problem, but I am still having issues with constipation...(that has been most of my life though).
  • hey stilltryin,
I know what ya mean about the constipation. I dealt with that for most of my life also. I just figured it was the way I was.

It took awhile on the Armour before it really helped with the constipation. I think it was about the time I was up to 3 grains (180 mgs) that it finally started improving, but I had been that way for so long that I'm sure it took awhile to get that straightened out.. Also it took me almost a year to get up to 3 grains bec we had no idea how much I really needed. I actually take 5 grains (300 mgs) daily, but started really noticing some improvement around 3 grains, but like I said that was about a year after starting the Armour.

The good news is - I'm no longer constipated. I'm "regular" like the rest of the world ;-)

hang in there. It'll happen for you too ;-)
  • hey? I just wanted to be sure that you read my message on the other thread about NOT taking your Armour before they draw your blood when you go back in 6 weeks. Just wait and take it afte they take your blood.

just thought i better double check
  • Yep, I read it, I never take my meds in the morning before a draw unless they specifically tell me too.
