my first message

  • Hi all,
This is my first message to you all. I'm one of the yo-yo dieters. I'm 53 years old and have lost probably 1,000 lbs over the last 40 years! I've been overweight since I was a little girl. However, when I see pix from high school, I'm amazed, wondering who that normal looking girl is! Unfortunately, I was convinced that my only option after graduation was the fat lady in the circus!

My best friend and I joined a local weight-loss group in our community called R-Weigh. The ladies are very supportive and wonderful friends. I lost 52 lbs in 2000. But, true to history, I had a bad year this past year and gained 72!

I've promised the group that I'll be back in 2002. I can feel that my mind is getting in the right place to do it again. My friend lost 115 lbs and has done well at maintaining. She is anxious for me to get back on track. And I WILL!

Well, I've probably put you to sleep by now, so I'll sign off for
    now. Thanks for listening.

  • Hi Velvet glad to have you. I know how it is to keep regaining the pounds. I was always heavy, or so I thought, which led to an eating problem. I ate more because I was so depressed about being big. Turns out I was not so big after all untill I started believing what people in school said and so I would eat to make myself feel better. I lost a lot of weight in collage but gained a lot back when I got married and then a lot more when I was widdowed. I finally started getting back into wanting to be healthy about two years ago and found this site. It has been such a big help top me. Even if I am having a rough time and get off track the encouragement and experiences from the people here has always helped me get readjusted. So find what works for you and stick to it. You will find a thread that has people doing the same sort of thing you are to join and just keep going. I am to be found on the perfect weight thread mostly but also on the Slimfast threads when there are people posting on it. Any personal questions just pm me if you can't find me. Hope you find this site as helpful as I do and when you loose ann the weight keep comming here for the support to keep it off!

    Hi, y'all,

I'm no from the South, but that phrase always works for me somehow!

Thanks for replying to my 1st msg. I've been on the Jan 1, '02 Challenge thread and haven't even checked here. I'm soooo sorry. The internet is new territory for me. I got my 1st computer in May and am just now exploring.

It's refreshing to know how many, many good and helpful people there are here. I'm determined to get back to it next Wed. WOW! That's close!! It's also kinda scary, exciting, and a whole lot of other things I can't even put into words. But, I CAN and WILL do it!!!

Hope your holiday season has been and will continue to be a good one.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR

Again, sorry it took so long to get back here. Good luck to us all!!
