Hi everyone!
My husband and I are planning on starting Fat Smash on July 23rd. We are both ready to get a handle on our weights. I have the most to lose, well over 100 pounds and my husband would be happy to lose 50-75. Ok, my question is which Fat Smash should we do? I'm thinking the original. My other question is this: If we do the original Fat Smash how long do we stay in each phase since we have a lot to lose? I know Dr. Ian says 9 days detox, phase 2 is 3 weeks, phase 3 is 4 weeks, and then the Temple stage. Shouldn't the time frame be extended for someone with a lot to lose?? Any suggestions would be so helpful! Thank you in advance!!
Definitely FS, EFS is for up to 25 lbs and isn't meant for long-term use.
I haven't started the diet yet - I start August 1st - but from what I've read, it doesn't matter how much weight you have to lose on original FS. You stay on each phase for the allotted time. Then you'll simply be on the final "maintenance" phase. I do remember reading that if you hit a plateau, that you can flip down to phase 2 for a week until your body begins losing again.
Please let me know if I am wrong!
We are all amateurs at this, but in my humble opinion, EFS is way too low in calories to start off with.....it is just for people with that final 25 to lose.....I should be doing that one, but I found it absurdly "extreme".
For someone with 100#s to lose; EFS would be very counter -productive. Why? Because it would signal "starvation mode" to your body. Your metabolism would slow to compensate, and your weight loss would actually be slower ultimately.
Enjoy the healthful, more moderate approach of FS...and eat every bit of what is allowed....the oatmeal to keep you fulll......all the dairy with the calcium that aids in fat burning........the yogurt for probiotic conditioning....the beans for fiber and protein, the eggs whites for protein....the sweet potatoes and raspberries for the great sweet joy! It is such a healthy diet!
I have never, in my life, felt better than on FS Phase I. If I had stuck to it, and it is just a matter of commitment and planning, I know I would be at goal and feeling great. With 100# to lose, there is no need to go to the extreme..if you follow FS even with 85 to 90% compliance, you will be full of fiber and nutrients. I look foward to your posts and the two you being successful!
Good luck!
I agree with MaryBlu...i've never felt so healthy in my life. And I dont really miss the meat or cheese right now. The fruit and vegetables statisfies me for the day and when I have the brown rice it fills me for the rest of the night. i feel like this diet is so easy that any one having to lose any weight can do this diet.
I agree with everyone also. I just completed the 3 weeks of the Extreme Fat Smash and by the last week I felt too weak 5 out of the 7 days to be able to do any more than a daily walk. It is definitely too low calorie to sustain for a long period of time. Plus the exercise requirements are crazy. There's not enough food to fuel your body for that amount of cardio exercise for 3 consecutive weeks in my opinion.
Results for me...and I followed the diet religiously but missed 2 exercise sessions...was 5.2 pounds lost and a loss of 4.5 inches. I never expected to lose the promised 12 pounds and am happy overall with the results.
I am likely going to switch to Fat Smash after a week off with maintenance. I think it's a much better and more sensible diet plan overall
Thank you everyone for the suggestions and answer to my questions. I am really excited to start this on Monday! I really want to start feeling better soon. For all of my life I've just viewed weight loss in terms of looking better. I just turned 30 this year and am now seeing that if I don't make some changes I am going to have some serious health issues. That prospect terrifies me. So, this is a chance for me to take care of myself and to view weight loss as a health benefit instead of just a "looks" benefit. It makes me feel so better to hear all of you say how well you feel after following this plan. It makes it seem really possible to follow and stick to.
Thank you again for your recommendations. I will be posting more often next week and I'm sure that I'll have some questions.
Happy Smashing!
