first week weight loss

  • sooo, i know the big initial weight loss is mostly due to water weight.....but water still takes up space, right? lol
    so do you lose inches too? Did ya'll feel slimmer after the first week? notice clothes fitting looser or anything?
  • Ella, water does take up space...in fact, I remember hearing that your fat cells, after the fat is burnt off, fill up with water because they don't like being empty (they never go away...just flatten out), then they let the water go. So for a little while after you burn off the fat, you'll be just as big, then you should lose some inches as you lose the water that was in the fat cells. Hope that helps!

    Personally, I always feel skinnier when doing P1. Something about the food you eat during that phase...
  • Yep - felt smaller, clothes felt better. The water just explains why you have such a big initial loss and then things steady out.
  • Laurie, that tip is so encouraging for those times when we exercise but then don't seem to see an initial change in our bodies. I will keep that in mind from now on.

  • I'm on Phase 1 and I feel my rings fit looser today! I think my clothes fit better but I'm not sure because I just bought some new clothes. I gained the confidence to buy new clothes though because I never used to like shopping. I always felt that I'm too fat to find anything, and I would usually shop alone and try on the clothes quickly, then grab whatever clothes "sort of" fit me. This time I went outlet shopping with my friends looking for cute clothes for work and for leisure! Big step for me!
  • Ellakay- We have a sticky with inches lost, if you would like to take your measurment and post them there. It is just a place to keep track.
  • I went down a pant size my first time in P1. It felt great, but I've been stuck at the same size since getting on P2 (haven't lost much, either, but that's my own fault!)
