So I am very happy I have lost 11 lbs and I am not discouraged just frustrated that I have not drop any inches yet. How much does one have to lose to drop a pants size. I do crunches everyday. Sometimes 2 times a day. I exercise and do all that. But I still have not actually dropped a size. My pants are not as tight but still. My waist is still about 36-36 1/2 inches. Is there something I should be doing but ain't. Any insight from the great members here.
  • The amount of weight in a size is very dependent on a number of factors . . . (not to mention the clothing manufacturer and how slavish it is to 'vanity sizing') . . . two of the main ones, of course are your height and your basic body 'type'.

One thing that I find is more consistent is that the difference in inches for a size (women's sizing at the hips is what I go by) is generally 2 inches. (For men's sizing probably 2 inches at the waist.)

Just be patient, it will happen. Hope that helps a bit.
  • Yeah I am not planning on buying any clothes yet just getting back into the ones I have. I have a pair of 32 mens back in the room I really wanna be able to wear again. I bought them like 1 1/2 yrs ago and only wore them one time. They still look brand new.
  • IMHO, the important thing is not to obsess on pant size. Been there done that. Just notice that the current size no longer causes you to turn blue from lack of oxygen when you put them on.
  • You don't say how tall you are but I find I am looking for new clothes at a loss of about 15 pounds. I'm 5'3'. I would think someone taller would need a little more weight to come off before changing sizes. At any rate, if we keep working at it eventually it will come!

    Good one, GAIL
  • My height is about 5'5 to 5'6.
  • Gosh....I wish i knew how to answer this question. When i started out at 196 i was in a ladies 16 (but needing a 18). Now at 154, i can fit in a ladies 8 or a jr's 11. But sizes have changed from back when. I have a skirt suit that i was wearing back in 2001 that i pulled out of the closet. it is a jr's 11 and i can put it on...but i CAN NOT wear it out in public. Just too tight across the belly still. Yet, the jr's skirt that i bought a couple weekends ago in a size 11 is actually too big. I have't tried on a jr's 9 because i don't want to push my luck...besides this is a mini skirt and looks like it is suppose to ride on your hips and my hips are smaller than my belly (well...not actually but in proportion...then yeah.) My waist is like 35 or 36 and my hips are 39!!!! WTH???? Oh well....my belly will catch up with the rest of me sooner or later!! Sorry i couldn't help. but thought i'd put my two cents in!
  • As others have pointed out it varies for each person. For me I can squeeze into a lower size after about 15 lbs. and fit comfortably after 20 lbs.
  • I've always found those ads funny with someone who's lost 40 lbs and 4 dress sizes.... cuz it really does depend on height and since I'm above average, 40 lbs would = about 1 dress size for me! LOL!

How much water do you drink? Maybe if you up your intake, you'll notice a difference...

    .
Yup. I lost 40 pounds and went from a 14 to a 6. It totally depends on your body. There are no general rules for this one.
  • when I did WW they told us that you usually go down a size after you lose 10% of your total weight. So of you started out at 180, then you should be down a size after 18 lbs

All I drink is water now with like 2 8oz cups of milk with 2 meals. I don't know the exact amount but thats all I drink.

I started at 164 so any where between 15-20lbs.
  • yeah i would give it another 5 lbs and then see where you are with your pants size.
