Going down a plan soon and a bit confused...

  • Okay, so as I've mentioned before, I'm going from Red 1 to regular Red soon. And I'm kind of confused. When I first started on LAWL they were adament in telling me to get in all of my food because "undereating is just as bad as overeating." So now, I've been struggling to eat all of this food (2 1/2P, 4V, 4F, 4S, 2D, 1Fat, 2L) this whole time and loosing weight well. And it always seemed when I wasn't able to get all of my food in I gained or didn't lose at all. Going down to red, I lose 1F, 1S, and 1D. Won't my body think I'm not getting enough now? Will I experience a temporary plateau when I switch? I'm just confused...
  • Hi,

I think they are trying to adjust us down as we lose weight. If we stayed at the same plan, we then would plateau eventually and maybe even start gaining weight back.

We will need a lot less food the lighter we get.

This is how they explained it to me when I started...the reason it is so much food when you start is because, at least at my weight, I am used to eating more and they don't want my body to go into starvation mode.

As I lose weight, I will change programs to help me continue to lose weight.

I hope this makes some sense to you...that I have explained it somewhat.

  • Diane explained it pretty good. You may experience a slowdown in weightloss for a couple of weeks while your body gets used to the new calorie intake. If you don't start losing regularly after about 4 weeks then I would talk to the COD about it. You will move down to purple about 220 and then again to gold around 180-190. If you don't lower your calorie intake as you lose weight, then you will eventually just start to maintain instead of lose.
