OT - When ants attack!!

  • Ok, so this is off-topic, but I just had to share.

You all know my lovely dog Bailey. Well, Steve leaves the house before I get up and at that point Bailey jumps up in bed with me. So this morning, he just wouldn't sit still. Kept fidgeting and moving, laying on me and making munching noises. So finally, I have enough and get up and turn the light on to see what the problem is. (Thank Goodness I did!). Bailey has fairly long hair around his muzzle. There sits Bailey with dozens of tiny black ants in his muzzle! Then I look to the bed and sure enough ANTS!!!!

I guess he must have gotten into an ant hill when Steve let him out. I didn't know what to clean up first - the bed or the dog!! After clearing the bed of ants, I threw him in the tub and combed all the ants off him. Ewwwww.

I have had the creepy crawleys all day!! I immediately took a shower and washed the sheets!!
  • Sandi --- ewww indeed! How's Bailey doing now?

I'll never forget the day I realized our dog had fleas. I had wondered what all the black "bits" were on his backslide -- flea crap! Our house has never been cleaner than when we were trying to "de-flea" it!!!
  • I'd have the creepy crawlies if I had ants in the house like that. I guess the good part is that they weren't red ants right? :P

We live on sand so there are nothing but ants around us and every spring/summer they get into the house until we bomb it and then it's all good. Since we live off a well I don't know what to use on the outside to keep them from getting in that won't get into the drinking water.
  • Awww the same thing happened to my sweet Emo. She totally sat in a ant hill. It was terrible! I felt so bad because she must have been miserable!
  • yeowwwwwwwwwsa! That would have my skin crawling for days! Poor Bailey! Poor you! Bad ants!

I mean, looking back on it (some day...........) it will be funny (well, sort of?) but right now, it even is making me itch just thinking of it.......

    bree
    come watch me shrink
  • It could have been worse. She could have started eating some oatmeal out of an oatmeal packet then discovered that there were dead ants in her oatmeal. (that was me about 17 years ago!)
  • Poor Bailey! I hope he's all right. Is that him in your picture? Such a cutie!
  • Poor puppy-poor you!!!!!!!!! I HATE ANTS!! I am sooo grateful that I don't have them in my new house. Had 'em bad in my old house. Those suckers could swim!!
