Somebody Stop Me!

  • I know my main problem with weight loss is eating after 8 or 9pm at night, sometimes later. Usually, it's a bowl of popcorn (oil-popped in a pot my mother gave me that's only ever been used for popcorn over the past 40 years!)

Like right now, I really want to make a bowl of popcorn, but I know I shouldn't. There's no reason to. I'm not hungry, I just like to eat it while watching tv after my son has gone to bed. During my "Me" time.

So instead I came in here and got on the computer, hoping someone will talk me off the ledge!

    Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
  • if you really like the popcorn, get an air popper. I don't think there is anything wrong with eating late at night, in fact I do it every night so that I"m not hungry when I wake up to workout. I like to air pop my popcorn and put zero calorie butter spray with salt....it's not a bad snack, really.

I think maybe every nite is over-doing it...you might want to make a list of other foods that sound good to you and switch them up throughout the week, but popcorn is not "horrible"...it's what you put on it.
  • True. I don't put anything on it except salt. No butter. But it's popped in Canola oil, so that's not great.

I like the idea of the air popper with butter spray. I'll have to check into that! Thanks for the idea..and support!
  • Yep, get an air popper or a box of the 100 calorie packs, they make a LOT and are easy.
  • Yes, those 100 calorie bags of popcorn are great. There's nothing like built in portion control! As long as you leave room for those 100 calories there's absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying a snack in the evening.
  • I guess the key here is that it's easier to replace habits with healthier habits than it is to break them completely. I think moving to an air popper is an excellent idea...or maybe you can replace the popcorn with healthier finger-food? (Carrots and celery are great because they have that satisfying crunch).
