Dirty Rice?

  • Hi All,

Another noob here. I just started Extreme fat smash on Saturday and have lost a pound - woohoo!

Anyway, in Phase I, Dr. Ian keeps mentioning "dirty rice". Dirty rice in the traditional sense is not exactly "diet friendly" food. Has anyone seen a recipe or know what he's talking about specifically???
  • Good for you! I've been doing Extreme and have been pretty pleased with the results. The first week was the hardest for me, but provided the biggest results.

As near as I can tell, "Dirty Rice" is primarily rice mixed with meat and cajun-type seasonings and sometimes some vegetables and/or beans. It's kind of strange that he refers to it in the book like we should all know what it is, but never explains or gives a recipe. There are some recipes on allrecipes.com that could be adapted by using brown rice and eliminating any ingredients that aren't allowed.
  • Thanks Quiltz...I'll go check out allrecipes to see if I can find a recipe that could easily be tailored...

Good luck with your weight loss!
  • Hmmm... some of my family is from Louisiana, and southern Louisiana-style dirty rice is DEFINITELY NOT diet friendly! It's usually loaded with meat like different types of sausages, spices, plenty of salt, and oh yeah, beans too. I'm not on Extreme Fat Smash (just the regular one) but I do find it odd that Dr. Ian keeps mentioning dirty rice without telling you how to make it in a Fat Smash-friendly way... people in Louisiana are fat and happy because they live to eat instead of eat to live I'm not insulting them... I lived there for awhile... it's their mantra! haha.
