Eating Late?? And Hello!

  • Hello all! I realize that I introduced myself in another thread - and so I may be unfamiliar to some of you. I started LAWL 12 days ago with my DH, and we're both doing it without the center. My cousin is a counselor at a COD, and gave me the plans and diaries for Red. So far, I've lost 8 lbs, and my DH has lost 10. We feel excellent! This board has provided so many ideas and answered so many of our questions (otherwise, I'd be calling my cousin 10 times a day!)

For the first week, I had no trouble getting all my food in. It was just enough to keep me feeling satisfied, but I was still going to bed at night feeling hungry. For the last couple of days, it hasn't taken very much to feel me up (it's a miracle!) - and so I didn't get as much food in earlier as I would have liked to. So by 8:00 last night, I still had 2Fr, 2S, 1D and 1F. I got it in, but was worried that by eating late, I might slow down my metabolism. I know how to get my food in during the day- it was just poor planning on my part (and I need to go to the grocery store), but was just wondering if any of you had experienced a slow in weight loss or any changes in how your body feels depending on when you eat your food. Just curious.

Thanks for the encouragement! Trying to figure out how to get a ticker and my pic on my profile. Until then...

  • Hi Sarrah, and welcome to the board.

You will find lots of encouragement and support here. If you have questions jump in and ask, if you need a lift for some reason, tell us whats happening, and we will help you out.

As for your question about eating late, I can't answer that, as I have never ran into that situation.

As for how to get your ticker on - you go up to the top left on the purple bar where it says User CP. Click on that, then click on edit Signature. Then I think it has questions about ticker - click on that, and it will tell you how to make one and transfer it over to your signature.

Good luck with the program and again, welcome
  • Welcome Sarrah! On eating late, I think that the jury is still out on that one. Some COD's swear that it is a big sin to eat late, others claim that it really does not matter one bit. It happens to me sometimes too, and I will still try to get my food in. If I have missed some fruit, I celebrate with a glass of wine.
  • Through most of my weight loss I have ate right before bed. It hasn't had any negative effect on me so maybe it is just an individual thing. I'd say if you can eat before bed, sleep comfortably, and still lose weight at a good pace, go for it.
  • welcome sarrah!
i always try to eat my starches and fruit all before 3pm because it takes yourbody longer to process them. i usually save only a protein and a few veggies for dinner and a lite. i've had good success with that so far and i think a few other people will agree with the statement of eating the starches and fruit earlier in the day so you have time to burn them.
i usually combine foods to get them in easier and to feel more satisfied longer--like making smoothies with my fruit, and dairy or having a slim fast and string cheese for a protein and starch. it's easier to get all the foods in when doing it that way, i have found.

awesome job on the losses for you and DH so far!
this is a great plan and lifestyle change..planning is definitely key!
  • Welcome Sarrah and congratulations on your weight loss! You are off to a fantastic start. This board provides a vast wealth of knowledge and advice. There are quite a few folks who are following the plan w/out a COD.

I do find that if I eat late it shows the next day on the scale. I am with Jill, in that I try to eat my starches and most of my fruit before 5pm. I save veggies and protein for dinner and then top it off with a lite. Most recently I have started adding a slimdown shake (similar to slimfast) as a meal replacement (once a day) and am having success.

My advice is to play around with your meal plan until you have found what works for you and your schedule. It has taken some practice for me but I have finally found my groove and am happy with my progress.

    Good luck!!!
  • Thanks so much for the advice and tips! I am looking forward to tracking my weight loss with you all. You're much appreciated!
