  • I LOVE 7-layer dip (guacamole, beans, sour cream, cheese, lettuce, tomato, black olives).....so....with LF or FF would this be legal on Phase 1? I am on day 3 and want to do something a bit different for dinner. I had salsa in my eggs this am and been wanting Mexican all day!
  • Ya know what? It's all legal on phase 1!!!!!

The big question, though, is --- what are you going to eat it with instead of corn chips???

Tune in tomorrow as we find out what healthy4good's fabulous phase 1 dippers will be... (corny soap opera music in background)...

I'd eat it all with a spoon or make a salad out of it!

    That is indeed the plan!

P.S. I AM SUPER EXCITED NOW!!!!!!!!
  • you gals crack me up

yeppers all legal but watch portions... it's not unlimited.
  • My Mom and I eat seven-layer dip with celery, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. It is really good and a great way to get lots of veggies in.
  • I make seven-layer dip often, and serve it with sliced red & yellow peppers, cucumber spears, and jicama slices as dippers. Yum! I'm going to make it for our Memorial Day cookout.
  • this may sound stupid, but what does jicama taste like?
  • Cottagebythesea- I'd never think of jicama for chips! You're kind of my hero now.

Totally not stupid! It's not a super common food.... I don't think it really tastes like much of anything and it's crispy. It's great for dieting because it's kind of sweet but it doesn't have sugar.

And you girls gave me cravings too so I made some guacamole. Anyone ever tried adding smushed peas to it? I was looking up a recipe and saw many people suggested adding peas if you were dieting to stretch it and make it less high fat (that is, if you don't change the serving size). I considered trying it, but didn't want to waste a good batch of guacamole if it was gross!
  • Charolastra, peas are a no-no food! I've never heard of adding them to guacamole, but like you said, "why waste a good batch of guacamole?"
  • Ah! Good thing I didn't make my dal stew. A lot of websites with SB recipes have had split pea stuff on their recipes! I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks!

SPLIT peas are a legume (bean) and are just fine.... i know plenty of folks who eat dal.
  • Oh... maybe I'm stupid but I didn't know there was a difference! I think of them as the same thing except one I don't eat because they're gross (whole peas) and one I could eat all day (split). Thanks!
  • The peas that are a no-no are fresh green peas, the kind that come in a pod. They are high in sugar. Sugar snap and snow peas are fine as are dried split peas and yellow peas.
  • Ok, in case anyone cares to know, I did add split peas to my guac and it was actually really good. I added about 1/2 cups of cooked split peas that I had mushed up to 1/2 cup guac (which for me was probably half avocado and half everything else). It tastes pretty good personally and although the texture was a bit different, the taste wasn't too off.
