It really depends on things like (but not limited to) your starting weight (the bigger you are, the more you may lose at the start), what food choices you make (eating low calories, but junk food won't help!) and how active you choose to be (some people find building muscle tones them beautifully, but the scale may move more slowly).
I started mid-March, and in 9 weeks, I've lost 33 pounds. I would say this is NOT typical, I am very careful with my portions and choices, I am quite active and I was very heavy to start with.
It's absolutely true - count on 2lbs a week.
