  • I was thinking of chopping the mid-length and go for a fresh look. Short hair came to mind. Thing is I'll probably look completely pear shaped if I go short because it will make my head appear smaller and my thighs, belly much bigger. I'm slimmer at top but all my weight is in the middle and don't want to look heavier than I am now
  • What's your face shaped like?

Funny, I've been growing my hair really long as I have lost (and then maintained) my weight.
  • I have short hair, and I carry all my weight around my mid-section as well. I get compliments on it all the time. And plus, when people are busy looking at my hair, they don't notice I'm fat
  • I used to feel that way, but I really wanted to do it and didn't want the worry to hold me back- and what I found was that it was actually pretty flattering. I mean, I have shaved my hair off completely, and that has its own highs and lows, but short hair can *definitely* be flattering. I want to grow my hair back out, but I feel short hair is more flattering on me- and I am smaller on top than on bottom.
  • yay for head shaving!!!! How great does it feel! And it saves time in the morning too! No washing, no brushing...aaaah.

Anyway! I've been thinking about it too, but I have a big head. I don't know if it would be flattering either.

  • hey i just came back from the hairdresser and i seriously chopped most of my hair off. i'm actually in shock right now because i went from mid to low back length hair to a really cute bob that is just under my chin. its so short!!! but i'm loving it because its such a different look for me and its so classy and sophisticated! i went from the longest I've ever had my hair to the shortest. a new hairstyle and a new look is always exciting so i say go for it!
  • I totally have an appointment to get my medium length hair cut into a bob type hairstyle!!!

I'm so glad you like it!
  • Amber, I have a friend who is like your height and has a cute short bob.
  • I am going from a bob to a pixie cut. I lost alot of hair being so ill and I am trying to compensate for my current hair thinness.
  • I'm growing my hair out 'til I hit goal. I'm still getting it trimmed (split ends=ew), but I'm trying to see how long I can grow it. Also there's the added benefit of when I hit goal, I can get whatever kind of haircut I want.

You shaved head gals are so brave. I'm worried my head is lumpy and/or shaped funnily.
  • post pictures of all your short hair cuts!! i don't know what to do with my hair either. i ALWAYS pull it back. it is so sad/boring/ugly. otherise it feels like a mess when it's down.
i dunno, i also think i shouldn't change too much at one time. weight loss and hair cut? weird i know, but it feels like too much attention drawn my way.
  • I always had my hair really long, but when I was pregnant, I got it cut into a bob, and I totally love it! It gives it more body and bounce! And it frames my face much better!
  • Well in my case, the short hair definitely diverted attention from my pear-shaped silhouette. I used to keep them long to my bottom, so of course people would look at them, look at their length... and their eyes would land right on my butt as well. I went from that to very short all at once, it's been years, and I haven't turned back. Moreover, depending on the shape of your head/face, short hair can also make you appear younger if the cut is well done.
  • I just chopped all of my hair off last week and I absolutely love it. I wasn't sure if I would look good with short hair, but then I decided that I wear it in ponytail everyday so what's the difference. Everbody says it makes my face look thinner. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. Oh yeah I alreadly said that.
  • Oh and if you do get it cut and don't like it, don't worry it grows back.
