Activia

  • Has anyone tried Activia yogurt? The commercials say it is supposed to help you be "regular". I am not. (I know. Too much information) But I am getting concerned. I also wonder if it may be hindering my weight loss. I have tried eating more fiber (whole wheat bread, etc.) but I don't think that is doing the trick. I often feel bloated and crampy and am just wondering if this Activia yogurt would help with all this.
  • Maybe you just need a simple fiber supplement. Yogurt is great stuff but I wouldn't rely on the claims of a single yogurt to tell you that it will fix your problems. Also, you might have food allergies. Do you notice bloating after eating certain things? A lot of people have wheat allergies/sensitivities and don't know it.
  • I can attest to Activia working. Not myself personally, but DD. She has been eating it regularly and it does help her. She saw the commercials and wondered if it would help her...she has never been regular. And since eating it she is.
  • My DH's doctor suggested a daily yogurt to help with stomach upset, but not for help with constipation issues. If you're constipated, you need fiber. I prefer Benefiber because you can mix into ANYTHING and you can't tell it's there (yet it works).
  • Thank you so much everybody! I think maybe I will try it for the 2 weeks and if that doesn't help I will try a supplement.
  • It works. I don't know if its the best thing to eat for that issue but there is no harm in trying it.

Flax Seed Oil helps too. Activia does have some sugar in it if you are watching that. I think around 12 grams
  • I eat the Activa Light. It's fat free and they use sucralose{or Splenda} so the sugar content is only 8g. I have never been a fan of the low fat or fat free yougurt but I really like this. I usually get the raspberry, I find the strawberry is too sweet for my taste. The peach is really good as well.
  • I was seeing a doctor for "similar" issues. When I asked about the Activia he said 4oz of yogurt a day is good for the system. I personally eat one serving of Activia a day -- I also take 6 metamucil capsules. Ever once in a while I have problems and need an extra boost so I went to my GP and he recommended Xenacot but only if I promised to NOT become dependant on it. I find I need to take it about once or maybe twice a month -- being regular is so very important for many many different reasons.

Getting ourselves regular is way too important to ignore.
