Off Subject:Phone Solicitors-Please help

  • f you know any info, I'd love your help- I have this one particular mortage company that continously calls me-no matter how many times I tell them to stop, etc etc etc. I've told them to take my name off their solicitation list, they keeps happening. Last night-that's right folks, a Sunday night at 8:30pm they called again-I again spoke to the 'manager' and in a firm voice told him that I do not want any further calls under any circumstances.
    Any advice?
    Thanks so much.

  • Call the phone company as well as the Better Business Bureau. They 'MUST' remove you when you request to be removed from their phone list. Also tell them you are contacting your lawyer (even if you don't have one).
  • There is, in most states, a "NO CALL LIST". You can do a search here on the internet for your state. I registered in Missouri (it's free) and when we get those annoying calls and I tell them I am on the no-call-list, they apologize. They don't call back because if they do, they can be subject to a $5,000 fine.

    I hope this helps.

  • Besides registering on your state's "no call list" (check http://www.the-dma.org/government/donotcalllists.shtml to see whether your state has one--sadly, most don't), you have the right to request individual callers to take you off their companies' own lists. The entity responsible for enforcing this is the Federal Communications Commission. I have had good luck telling repeat callers, "I'm certain you are aware of the FCC regulations concerning calls you continue to make to persons who have asked to be removed from your lists. Why are you violating this regulation?" Pause...silence...not one of them ever says, "No, I'm not aware of that"--because that's one thing telemarketing managers DO brief their front-line employees on! Usually they apologize, and none has ever called me again.
  • Check out this website: www.junkbusters.com

It will give you all the info you need to get rid of telemarketers, fax spamming, etc. It's pretty informative.

  • Also try privatecitizens.com
My neighbor is in the business of placing you on tons of lists and helping you to recieve LOTS of money if they call you!!
    Check it out!
  • if your area had anonymous call rejection, it is well worth it. i think it cost a couple of bucks a month but it stops all telemarketers from calling you. it has definitely been great since i have added it to my phone service. on a average i was getting at least 10 calls a day from telemarketers and now none - how wonderful!!!!
  • I have anonymous call rejection and believe me, it doesn't work here! I'm so ****ing tired of these phone calls! According to that website it doesn't look like we have a NO CALL option as of yet...probably never will if I know this state. I do have an ID caller. 99% of the time if it says "unavailable" it's a tele-marketer. I realize these people are only doing their job, but it's very annoying.....especially when the KEEP calling back after you've told them no umpteen times! Came home from work one day and saw 14 unavailables on my ID caller in ONE DAY! How rediculous is that?!?!?!
  • My DH got one of those new Telezappers for Christmas, and believe me in just one week most of the solicitation calls are gone! It sends a signal into their computers that tells them your phone's been disconnected, so your number gets erased from their system and they can't sell it to other companies.

    Just a thought ...
  • I'm really thinking about getting one myself. I really hoping we get this "No Call" list here in LA, but this might be the next best thing. I'm so sick of these calls! I'm beyond being polite now and that's sad. The poor people now here a click before they can finish "May I speak to....." I'm truely fed up.
