WW Frozen Dinners?

  • So, here I am trying to get my life/health/eating in order again. I went back and forth in making a decision on what plan I should follow low carb or WW. I decided to go with WW Flex. Yesterday was my first day and I am 3 lbs. down today. WOOHOO!! (I know water weight, but it motivation). My eating has gotten so out of control that I have decided to eat 2 frozen WW meals to get my portions back on track. Just want to know if anyone else eats mostly frozen meals?What kind of results have you had?Does it make a difference? I do have fruits and veggies for snacks. Thanks!
  • I've never had any of the frozen dinners, but I think I read somewhere that some of the other brands (non WW) are actually lower in points than the WW ones. You may want to take your slider to the grocery store and see. Good luck!

    I love the frozen dinners!!!! They have saved me on many a night!!! However, I am not crazy about any of the WW food product line. I am strictly a Lean Cuisine fan. Did you know theyprint the WW point value on the side of the box?

    However through reading posts in this site, I have become aware that they tend to have a large sodium content. I always try to have a few yummy ones in my freezer for the nights when i know i am too lazy to figure out the point value of what I am serving the family. Also, on the nights that I wont be able to show portion control on what I am serving them.

    My suggestion is to only buy one of what interests you. you will have some vareity and not be stuck feeling deprived eating something that did not quite measure up to your expectations.

  • Personally you can get some much more QUALITY and QUANTITY of food for the same or less points than a frozen meal.

    They really are processed and pretty much simple carbs with very little nutirtional value.

    I eat them on occasion but usually only when I am in an emergency status...forgot my lunch on the counter and need to run to the store to get something...but even a salad with a small can of tuna or chicken on it has more nutritional value and usually fills me up better.

    But to each their own. It is about what works for you.
  • Well, here's my two cents, feel free to give me a refund!

    The lean cuisine "spa cuisine" meals are the only ones i eat now. they have whole grains, and some of them are sorta tasty. the lean cuisine brick oven pizzas really help when i am jonesing for junk food and they don't make you completely wreck the diet. i try not to eat them much, but I keep a few on hand at work for days when i forget lunch or nights when I just can't fathom cooking.

    still, I won't rely on them anymore. They are salty and IMO some of the WW meals are just an insult. I mean, the ravioli one you get like four raviolis! Bah! That isn't enough food for me at all. Further, something to think about is that frozen dinners don't encourage mindful eating to me. While I am cooking, or thinking about making dinner, I am more likely to get the servings of things i need in. with a box dinner, it is too easy to toss it in the mocrowave, scarf it down, and forget about it. To me, learning how to think properly about food is just as important as loosing the weight- I want to be able to keep it off one day without being tethered to pre-portioned food.

    With that said, I know nothing about your lifestyle, budget, habits, triggers and so on. So, I can only encourage you to find out what works best for you. Maybe eat frozen dinners for a few weeks while you get centered with your portion sizes, and then start branching out and doing more cooking. Either way, good luck to you! You can do it!
  • We too eat the frozen meals, but do not eat WW meals as they are not very tasty. We eat mostly the Lean Cuisine and some Healthy Choice. My dh has them everyday pretty much for his lunch at work. I do eat the WW little egg mcmuffin thingys though. The brick oven pizza from Lean Cuisine is the bomb, especially the mushroom and it is great when you are craving pizza without the fat or the guilt.

    I would remind you to eat more veggies and fruits with your frozen meals though as most of the meals focus mainly on the meat area and don't give you near enough veggies in the serving.
  • I used to eat them frequently when I first started. It did really help me with portion control. I still eat the LC pizzas and paninis most days that I work for lunch. They're quick and easy. I add a vegetable and fruit to each one. Other than for work I don't eat them as much as I used to, but I still have them occasionally when I don't feel like cooking. I usually buy Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice because they taste better to me than the Smart Ones.
