Exercise

  • Okay I have a question..Is there a such thing as too much exercise? I would like to try for 60 mins a day of WATP but I don't want to overdo myself are anything like that. Should I not do it one day and give my body a rest or does it not really matter? Thanks
  • I'm *fairly* sure you can walk 60 minutes a day without any problems... but definitely take a break if you're sore or in pain while you're doing it.

The reason I say this is that when I started working out, I was "overdoing it" by the standards of several people, but I felt great, never got injured, always stopped if I felt like I was pushing tooo hard.

I think the most important thing though is not to do too much so you DREAD thinking about that massive amount of work each day. Maybe have heavy days and light days or something... that has helped me from getting bored.

    good luck!
  • I also walk for more than an hour a day (I don't have a car so I walk everywhere) and I go to the gym 5 times a week. I think the key is just to pay attention to what your body is telling you, if you are in any pain or get stiff joints cut back. It is probably not a good idea to do anything too strenuous everyday - but walking doesn't shock your body too much.
  • Hi Ashley,

I do 60 minutes of walking on the treadmill each day. Doing 60 minutes of cardio exercise each day is excellent for your health...and for your scales! If you've been exercising for a while already, go ahead and pump it up! If not, you might want to ease into the 60 minutes gradually as your muscles can get very sore. The "day of rest" rule is usually for strength training as your muscles need that time to re-cooperate.

I agree. Also watch out for nausea (personal experience here)! It kinda ruins the feel good experience of the work out if you feel sick later.
And I don't know if this is an option for you, but I also like to get in a lot of non-exercise exercise. By that I mean, I walk to work, to class, etc.
  • I agree with Rhonda. Dr. Phil recommends 45-60 minutes per day....no rest. That's what I'm working up to. I'm up to 35 minutes on the elliptical. Will add 5 minutes in May. Somedays I also throw in a WATP video which puts me over the 60 minute mark. I think rest is only for the weight training, strength, muscle straining stuff.
  • okay thanks guys, I've been doing between 30-60 mins of WATP every day except maybe 5 days in the last 3 weeks and I feel fine. I've been weighing almost the same for about 2 weeks now but that's for either eating to much or not enough lol its always something. Thanks again
