day 1...

  • where do i start? i'm 30 years old and i swear the 30 lbs that i gained in the last 7 years came overnight. i feel like i just met my husband in college- back when i was thin- and now it's 7 years later and there is much more of me for him to love. i have to keep telling myself that this is it for me. that if i don't stay on track and loose the weight, that i will be 37 and another 30 lbs heavier...oh god, i can't imagine.

any words of wisdom or friendly advice would be much appreciated. i haven't been able to do this alone yet, so i'm hoping that this time it will be different.

    happy dieting~

  • i completely understand where you are coming from

30 here myself , and i look in the mirror and i SWEAR i am not bad ... then i see photos of myself and it is a horror show!

I was motivated before my wedding and lost 50 pounds ... once married and settled into happy married life, those 50 pounds ambushed me right back and then some!

I recommitted yesterday to getting myself back to a healthy weight for a number of reasons .... health, getting ready to start a family .....

This, so far, has been a great supporting community ... you are definitely not alone here ....

  • Hello and welcome. I am 29!!! Alomost 30

    My best wishes to you!
  • first welcome your are starting at the right place...a great support group. Here's my suggestion..first and foremost find a change of lifestyle that works for you (remember diets dont work since this has to be a life style change). Next journal all you food...it really is a pain at first..but after a while you realize how much it really helps. Start small at first. Change simple things like eating more fruit and veggies, staying away from fast food, eating too much fatty processed foods and encoorperating more whole grains in your diet. Then start moving. Start slow at first..20 min walking a few times a week. And remember sucessful wt loss and slow wt loss. Expect 1-2 lbs loss a week. You may have more at first...but then it will taper. And also don't be discourage by no losss...its better than gaining. And i also recommend measuring yourself. You may find down the road you may not be loosing wt but you are loosing inches. And dont' beat yourself up for bad days...just get back to it...we all have bad days. Good luck and welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!
