35 WPA Question

  • How do you all use your 35 WPA's? I've been playing around with mine, fitting 5 extra points in per day, then saving them for the weekend. It seems as if using them too close to weigh-in doesn't give me as much of a loss. I'm trying to find out which way is best.
One WW leader suggests using them all, while another leader says don't use them unless you have something special going on.

  • Hi Denise,

i tend not to use them. But i DO love that they are available!!!! It used to be that if i cheated I would have this mentality that i already blew it so I might as well eat everything in sight. Somehow being able to say, well that is alright since you have the extra points-seems to help.

Congrats on your impressive weight loss!!!!!
  • I use them all. The amount of them I use each day is different - yesturday I only used 4 of them today I used 10. But I was more hungry today then yesturday because I was more active.

I try not to use my activity points that I earn though.
  • Thanks for the help. Mamabear, I don't use my activity points either.

  • Thanks, Ibbasquish. I could not have done it this easily without WW.

  • My leader said something last week about the 35 points -- she said that she knew very few people who used all of them every week and still lost weight. She wasn't making a big point of it, it was kind of like an aside, but BOY has that stuck with me. I've always planned in those points, and then been frustrated with my lack of consistent success. THIS time (attempt number 786 ) I'll save the points for a special occasion only. Best of luck!
  • WOW! Every leader I have had (and I've had several) even leaders who post on the official W/W board suggest using them all. I use all my points (all daily, all activity I earn and all my weekly). Usually the majority of people lose more consistenly and feel less like they are dieting when they use them.

I tend to spread them out at 5 a day and if I use them fine, if not I roll them over to the next day and if I use more than I take away evenly from the remaining days so I have some on each day.

I am from way back when W/W had ranges and we could bank what we didn't use between the minimum (which is now the daily points) and the maximum for the day (which the range points x 7 days a week equal the weekly points). So I have always used them.

The point is they are optional and you can use or not use them as you see fit.

Personally I find the people who use them tend to have a higher maintenance points. For me on maintenance I get 34-35 daily points PLUS 3-5 activity points on the days I exercise PLUS all my weekly points.
  • I used to only use half of my WPA, but recently I've been using more like 3/4 to all of them. I've still been losing weight. So I'm going to keep doing it. I've also started to eat some of my AP, depending on the day. I still try to leave at least 5 point for the week, just in case I calculated something wrong. This way I'm covered. It's probably silly, but it makes me feel better.

I started to add points to see if I could still keep losing, because I'm scared of maintenance. I don't want to be on maintenance eating 18-20 pts a day, to keep from gaining weight, and everything I've read says that if you use your WPA and AP then your maintenance points will be higher. Just like Kelly said. Even if I lose weight slower than what I want to, it's worth it to me if when I hit goal, I get to have more points.
  • Great question ~ I was wondering about that myself. I have been using my WFP's and seem to be losing each week BUT this could change I know. Ü
  • I use all of my Activity Points but not always all my flex points..it depends on the week.. But typically I use all my Activity Points and most all of my flex points (really depends how many APs I earned that week).. I think personally that the more you use now the easier it will be for you to maintain in the future when you reach goal.. But that is just my personal humble opinion...
  • I have a couple extra everyday and my weigh in day (Saturday) is the day I plan for dinner's out, movies, friends etc. So it has been working out well. My weight loss has been slow (-4.8 for 3 weeks) but then I am ok with that. My goal has been to lose at the most 5 pounds per week. As for activity points -- I have not been keeping track of them nor have I been using them.
