new pts system

  • okay so i'm used to the old points system with the 35 points a week and the points being determined by what you weigh this is my first week back to ww meetings i weigh in again on tuesday. do you all find that you are still losing weight on the new point system?
  • I may not be a good canidate to answer since I have only been on the program two weeks now but I wanted to put my two cents in. The first week I lost 5 pounds, I exercised every day and used maybe 5 of the 35 points. My second week I lost 3.4 pounds and used about 20 of the extra points and exercised every day. So far so good for me and my friend has lost 28 pounds in 3 months and she uses every one of her extra points for beer. I think it's a great plan and I wish you well!
  • I am new to the ww flex plan also (only one week for me) but lost 5 pounds. Just curious, how did the old system work?
  • I find I am losing just as well as before if not better. I gained nearly 50 pounds because of medical reasons after getting to goal.

The program is much more personalized and based on many factors...it is well researched and proven. Trust it.
  • working out my points with the "new" program is the same as the "old" program.
First week I lost 2.4 -- tomorrow will be my second weigh in. I'll let you all know!
  • thanks ladies )) it looks like early peaking on my scale i've lost close to 3lbs this week but, wont know till tuesday the real number. just got so nervous since i got more pts now.
  • I am finishing up my 8th week on WW - I have lost nearly 14 lbs. eating every single point I can get my hands on. Now, I am not saying that if I would not have eaten all of my flex points I would have higher weight loss - but this is what keeps me motivated and I guess slower steady weight loss is better than what I did before - starve myself silly! I think you have to find what works for your body type. Good Luck!
  • How are points calculated in America?

In the UK, they calculate points by asking if you are male/female, breastfeeding, your weight, your height and level of activity. Those are your points. I don't believe we get extra points per week.

My husband is doing ww with me and likes when he has extra points and says he has no plans on eating them later. But, I eat all my points and make sure I eat any leftovers throughout the week. Here's hoping I still lose weight! LOL

In the states it is based on:

    1) gender
    2) age
    3) height
    4) weight
    5) daily physical movement nto counting exerice

if you are breast feeding you get additional points

we earn extra points daily for exercise plus we get weekly points to use or not use.
  • Yael~
they calculate points the same here. I have 32 points right now with 35 weekly points allowance. You should check to see if ya'll get the weekly points.
  • I actually still follow it the old flex way. For me the target they wanted me to have wasn't enought food. 20 point target is just right for me
  • I joined weight watchers online and have never been to a weight watchers meeting in my life !!What is the 35 extra points? I've read and heard nothing about this!!. I know i have 22 points a day and can get extra if i excercise.

Can someone please tell me about these extra 35 points?

Even if you are only doing on line the 35 WEEKLY aka FLEX points are explained in your plans.

Both Core and Flex get 35 weekly points..AND THEY AREN'T EXTRA They are additional optional points that allow the program to be flexible. On Core they are to be used for those foods that are designated as core such as breads, crackers, treats. On Flex they allow you ways to enjoy the program and not feel deprived.

The daily points you get are the BARE minimum your body needs to function and still be able to lose based on basal metabolic rate. Then you can earn points for exercise but those are used only on the day they are earned (based on intensity, time done and your current weight). Then you get the 35 weekly points to use as you see fit...some, all, none. You can spread them out over the week or you could use all 35 in 1 day.

DO NOT BE AFRAID TO USE THEM...the majority of people use them with great success. Start out uisng all of them for at least a few weeks and if you aren't losing (don't be startled if for 1 week you don't show a change give your body time to adjust) then adjust down by 7 and do tha for a couple more weeks and so on.

I've used all my points from day 1 and will always use all my points. Usually the more points you use while losing the more you end up with on maintenance and the less chance you feel like you are dieting to maintain.
