on plan 3 weeks and low loss?

  • I have been on a plan for 3 weeks tomorrow ..week one I lost 3lbs, week 2 I was UP!! a pound. I don't know about this week.
Now, the 2nd week I was totally on plan, journaled everything, ate totally according to plan, except they call for 3 meals and 2 snacks and I was only haivn the meals, and including the snacks only if I was hungry. So basically most of the snacks I didn't eat.
I fitday'd my totals and my average daily was only 890 cals! Do you think that's why I gained?
Normally I eat so , so unhealthy and so much volume, it just floors me that I was totally turning it around, and eating way less and a gain! Not even staying the same . Thank GOD I did not tun it into a pity party and this week I took all the guys advice and am having meals plus ancks (tho it seems like too high carb- I eat 4 pieces of fruit a day!)
PLugged that into fitday and my totals are more 1150 -1225..
I've even been working out and drinking my water...What so you think? I can't tell if I've lost anything, my scale is usually way off from everywhere else, but it looks like I still stayed the same..AGAIN! What the heck is wrong with me? Did I totally screw my metabolism?
And most sick of all, my biggest worry is NOT Will I EVER get healthy, fit? Nope! It was , They're going to think I'm lying..becasue I know I *should* be losing..I just am stumped.
  • 890 calories is WAY to low for an average daily consumption. Your body is probably in starvation mode right now. If you start so low, you have nowhere to go once you hit a plateau. You might try to bump your calories up to atleast 1400-1500 day for awhile and see what happens.
  • Up your calories and you should see a difference. I also recommend 1400-1500 to start. Let us know how it goes...
  • You can't go into starvation mode after only 2-3 weeks...but it isn't good to eat only 890 calories a day. Actually, if you information is correct, with the 3 pound loss the first week, and being up one the next, you have lost 2 pounds in 2 weeks. This is NORMAL.

Healthy weight loss is 1/2-2 pounds per week, and you are right on that mark. There are going to be fluctuations-you might lose 1 pound this week, none the next, 4 the week after, then be up one the week after that. It isn't just the food-sometimes monthly hormones, retaining water from sodium, whether or not you had went to the bathroom that day (if you catch my drift), many things affect your weigh ins. So, look over your loss over the course of a few weeks, or the month, to see that in general, even with all of the fluctuations, the trend is going downward.

I do recommend eating between 1200-1800 a day for weight loss. It is trial and error what works for each person as an individual. 890 is way too low. You have to think about fitness, and being healthy as well-not just skinny. Your body needs fuel.

The 1800 level is more for those with a lot to lose-like those starting well over 200 pounds. I would recommend starting out with around 1500 a day-and see how that does for a while. If you need to adjust things a bit after a few weeks, then we can work on that then.
  • woo-hoo! Down 3! So including the 1 lb gain, down 5!!
  • WTG on the weight loss!!
