In order for me to lose as much weight as I have I really had to put this front and center.
Same for me. I felt like in order to lose the weight I wanted to lose, I had to just give in and become a little food obsessed. It was a trade-off. I could not focus on diet and stay where I was at or possibly even gain more weight or I could make it a priority and finally be happy with the way I look. The choice I made isn't the one that everyone would make (and there's definitely something to be said for accepting yourself the way you are, I'm not trying to knock that decision, it just wasn't right for me), but I'm very happy with it.
And to be honest, I like it. I love food. I love everything about food. I like thinking about it, I like planning what I am going to eat, I like shopping for food, I like finding new recipes, I like tasting new food, I like preparing food, I like organizing my recipes, I like talking about food, and most of all I like eating it. The only thing I don't like about food is the clean-up. Other people have hobbies they spend a lot of time on (for my SO, it is a computer game) and people rarely question whether those hobbies are healthy. For me, one of my hobbies is food.
