Weigh-in at home 4/2 - 4/8

  • Thought I would get this up and running.

Judy - Hope you are doing better!!! Thinking of you.

I don't think I posted on last week's WI and so I figured I'd update here. I lost 1lb 2wks ago and I lost 1lb this week! Woohoo!!! That officially puts me at 265 and at 25lbs down!!!!

    Excuse me while I par-tay!!!!

Ok...well I rewarded myself yesterday by going out and getting a perm/cut and a wonderfully relaxing brow wax! Ha!!! But it was a NON-FOOD reward and so I am very proud of myself. I have 4 more lbs before I hit my 10%, but that's ok...I'll keep plugging along!

Thank you all for the great support!
  • Marcia - congratulations on the great loss, great total and giving yourself a non-food reward! You'll get to your 10% in no time!

I'm doing OK. I haven't weighed in in a couple of weeks - I opted to stay in bed and rest. I managed to get through work last week, and had a lovely birthday. I'm on vacation now until next Wednsday, and I need every day to recover. I went back to the pulmonary doctor on Monday. The good news is that I don't have asthma. I have a situation where my airways are overreacting - asthma symptoms. The doctor gave me a number of things to help clear things up without another round of steroids - Singulair, Advair and a rescue inhaler. I've been trying to rest as much as possible although I've been doing gentle (restorative) yoga and tried a Leslie Sansone 1/2 hr workoug the other day. I decided to hold off another day before trying cardio again. Each day I'm feeling a bit better and I want to be sure it stays that way. I'm not getting as much "done" as I had hoped this vacation, but I'm OK with that. The key is getting back to feeling well before work starts again.

I hope to get to weigh in this Saturday morning unless I go into the city to the Iyengar Institute for some yoga. Although I really want to go, at this point, I'm leaning towards staying home and continuing to rest. We'll see.

    Have a great one!

P.S. Come on everyone (especially those who have been absent these recent weeks) - check in or at least stop by and say hello!
  • Well, I finally got myself back to my meeting and faced the scale. Considering the "woe is me, I'm still not feeling well" eating and Passover, I suppose I'm not too disappointed with the 2.6 pound gain. Well, maybe I'm disappointed but not surprised. The good thing is though that the meeting helped re-charge me and I am determined to lose most if not all of it in the next week. Tony and I have planned a good menu of dinners for the week and I'm hoping to not just continue with my yoga but try to add in a little cardio in the next day or so. I feel some irritation/congestion still so I'm a little hesitant. Unlike some people, when I have a cold and I do cardio, I usually feel worse not better. Of course, this isn't a cold but something I haven't experienced before. When I was at the pulmonary doctor on Monday, I asked him if I could do cardio (he knew I was doing gentle, restorative yoga) and he said I could, if I felt like it. I'm not one to avoid exercise, as a matter of fact, I'm sort of itchng to get some in, but I don't want, and can't afford any set backs. I *have* to feel well by Wednesday when I go back to work. I guess I'll do some yoga later and try some cardio (starting slowly) tomorrow. I got myself some Leslie Sansone dvds and I should be able to pace myself based on how I feel.

Have a great one - in case I don't get back on, Happy Easter.

  • I forgot to add that as I didn't manage to get to my goal by my 50th birthday I have set a new one. Mind you, I'm not beating myself up about it. I've been sick for the last 2 months, no exercise, etc., but I decided that I have to make sure I get there in my 50th year. We are going on a fabulous cruise/tour to Alaska on July 8th and I want to be at goal before we go. I just counted the number of weeks from now until the end of June and it is 12 weeks away. So, I plan on getting to goal (which I think is about 11 pounds) by the end of June - a goal that's clear, reasonable and doable.
