How does one measure Calories Burned?

  • I don't have any fancy gadgets or money to buy any right now, so how do I know how many calories I am burning during a work out session?

On a lazy day, I'll do the 2 Miles WATP's video, but most of the time I do High impact step aerobics for about 40 to 50 minutes, plus some stretching, sit-ups and leg lifts, and about 2 day's a week, I use 2 and 5 lbs weights with my aerobics.
  • Was this a dumb question? LOL! I see 24 peeps have viewed it but noone has answered...or maybe no one knows like me? Either way, I hope somebody knows.....
  • Have you tried Fitday.com? There is an activity section you can use--calories burned is based on your weight and level of exertion.
  • K, Thanks Sheila, I'll go give it a look right now!
  • Try checking on caloriesperhour dot com.
  • Another website you can use to calculate calories burned is http://www.healthstatus.com/cbc.html. But keep in mind that all of these websites are just providing a very rough estimate at best. None of them can really tell how hard you are working. So I do not increase the calories I am eating based on the number of calories they say I've burned.

A better way of estimating how many calories you've burned would be to buy a heart rate monitor that includes this function.
  • K, thanks girls, I'm checking out all these sites and next time I am out I'll see how much them heart rate thingies cost.

    You all rock!
