Introducing Myself

  • Hey, I am 27 from Australia. I lost a lot of weight a few years back (40+kgs/91 pounds) on SureSlim then sadly following a few traumas I fell off the wagon big time.

I haven't put all of my weight back on but I have put quite a bit of it. I am trying to be positive by remembering that I am still not as big as I once was. I have made a commitment to get back on track. I am planning a return to my clinic just because it was a really big help to me to have to face the scales publically once a week. I know that the eating plan works (I won't call it a diet because it is really all about the rights foods at the right time literally) and I know that I owe it to myself to see it through.

I haven't really been living a life for almost 10 years. My weight became a paralyzing obstacle not long after my 18th birthday. I want so much more from my life and I know that only I can help myself overcome what is lying in my way.

I am doing this for health and wellbeing, I am doing it so that I can one day have children and I am doing it because I hope to inspire other people around me who could do with taking a similar journey.

You are all inspiring. I have been lurking at this board for a while now.

I will check in daily and hopefully keep you up to date on my progress.

I am starting at 134kgs .... phew I said it publically. It's obscene but it will be the last day that I have to say that.

If you have any questions about the SureSlim program, I would be really happy to answer them. I believe wholeheartedly in what they offer. It is about real food. No gimics here. You prepare all of your own food from fresh wholesome produce. Done correctly the weight just slides off. Seriously every overweight person should know about this program and what is can offer. Anyway enough product encouragment.

I look forward to being a member of this community.

  • Welcome! I'm glad that you're taking control of your situation and heading to a healthier "you". Good luck.
  • Hey, liftingme!

Glad that you are posting! I wish you the best with your weight reduction! It's hard to face "the numbers" but we've all done it. Some starting points are higher or lower than others, but we all know the feeling.

Good luck! Is there a SureSlim subforum in Diet Central? I'm not sure.

  • SureSlim?
    Hey there liftingme, Welcome!
I am new here. I know you have it in you to lose the weight. You sound really determined & that's what it takes. You have to think about how good it felt to be thin. I keep trying to think "Eat to Live, not Live to Eat!" Obviously from my post, I am not living by it. I need help too.
You mentioned SureSlim & that you eat regular foods. It sounds like a healthy eating plan. Tell me more about it if it's ok per the rules of the posts.
    I'm interested.
Good luck! You can do it.
P.S. What part of AU. do you live? I have a friend in Melbourne.
    Signed, Openheart
  • So it has been more than two years since I first posted here. A lot has happened since then. I lost quite a lot of wight weight, then fell off the wagon after a trauma at work and ended up putting a lot more on. I am absolutely horrified to post that at my biggest I ended up weighing in at 160kgs ... HORROR! It still shocks me to type that number honestly. I never felt that big.

On a positive note I have taken control in the last 6 months and to date have shed 32.5kgs (71.5lbs) back a version of the Sureslim program. I now weigh less than I did when I last started Sureslim.

I say that I am following a version of the program because I do not attend any clinic and while I am pretty strict, I decided before I started the program this time that it was a lifelong change. I did initially attend clinic sessions but it felt odd to go to the sessions because I wasn't approaching the program like they do. I don't want to view what I am doing as a 'diet' with a beginning, middle and end. The way I eat now is for life. Sure, I still have a figure I'd love to reach and I have short term goals but regardless of how many kgs end up falling off, I don't expect to ever stop being on Sureslim.

As a super dupa extra special thing, my older sister also starting eating like me and she has lost even more than me. I think collectively we have gone past the 150lb mark.

I'd love to chat to anyone here who is or has followed the program. I am going to post more regularly here. I have found it so helpful having my sister to talk about recipe ideas etc so I thought coming here to be amongst others in a similar situation can only be inspiring and helpful!

I am really sorry I didn't respond before. I am not sure if you are still a poster here but I wanted to expand a little. I am not sure what the full rules are but basically when I say I eat regular foods, I mean that on this program I prepare all of the meals that I eat from foods that you can buy at any supermarket. There are no shakes, no bars, no pre-packaged meals. It's all about fresh fruit, vegies, lean protein and the odd hint of carbs. Of course, water, as with all weightloss is key.

I would back this eating plan forever. It seems that it has lost some credibility because a lot of clinics haven't survived. It's certainly expensive if you don't have a lot of weight to lose but I consider the $1200 odd I have invested worth it for the 100kgs I have shed throughout my time on the program. Sure I screwed up and put a lot back on but the plain fact is that this program works. I do believe that it is not a quick fix and have proven that once you commit you really need to do so for life.

If you (or anyone else) has any other questions feel free to send me a message and I will answer if I can.
  • Hi and welcome (back) to 3FC!

Congrats on your success and good luck with your goals.

  • Thanks for the welcome. Just went and checked out your blog. You have achieved amazing results! Congratulations.

I just found out that the clinic I am (was) registered with went into voluntary administration in late June. Lucky I was reliant on them ... Looks like the program has gone from my city now. It's a shame since it does work.
  • Welcome!!
  • Thanks! Congrats on your success.

Need to get me one of those tickers ...
