I am New

  • Hi my name is Areesha and I live in Karachi Pakistan right now with a wonderful man I met online while I was in america. I am from New York. I was living in Houston Texas before I came here to marry and have been here 2 years on and off and we are planning on going back to Texas soon and live in Houston. To lose wieght here is really hard as they eat alot of rice, bread and pasta and I am a diabetic and this is not a place for diabetics as well.I need to lose about 100 pounds and I just lost my mother last June and have been going downhill since then and in such a depression I cant get out of it. I have NO friends here and I have 3 sisiters in law but i wouldnt count them as family as they--well 2 of them are not good ppl and I dont associate with them, so I really feel alone alot. I hope to meet some new friends here that are struggling as I am. My perm resident is Texas but i was here awaiting my husbands visa to go back to Texas.

  • Hi Areesha!

wow - Pakistan! I would love to hear more about it!

It must be hard moving to a new country to live. Are there no local groups (weightloss or otherwise) that you might join? The girls here at 3FC are so lovely, always ready to give support if you're having a down day. You might like to post the the 100lb. Club - there are also forums for age brackets and other interests.

The girls usually say "tell us what food you're eating, and what you do for exerise, and then we can offer help and suggestions". So sing out!

I am sorry to hear about you mother. We are all here to listen if you need a shoulder.

Hope to see you about the threads

  • Hey Areesha,

The if you go to the "Quick Links" link at the top of the page, a drop down menu comes up, with "Sig. Weight Tracker" as an option. Just go there and follow the intructions - it was acutally pretty easy!

Well, I am sorry that you and Pakistan don't really fit together - how long til you go back to Houston? And yeah - Charles is one of my favourites when it comes to inspiration!

So what are you doing to contribute to your weight loss? I am on a meal replacement program, (still eating chicken/salad for lunch) and exercising at least 3 times a week. Its working too!

    Take care

  • Hi Areesha! Welcome to 3FC!!!
  • Hi Areesha!

I am sorry to hear that conditions are so bad where you are now living! Please accept my sympathy on the death of your mother, too! You have had a heard time of it, but I'm glad to hear that you will soon be coming to Texas with your husband.

The 100 lb. club is my homebase since I, too, have 100 pounds to lose. I've lost 76 of the pounds so far. Everyone has the weight to lose, so there are many friendships there with people who all have a common goal.

I hope to see you there!
