I need to get a good scale. While I'd love one that told me I was light as a feather, I'd prefer one that simply told me the truth. I went online and it seems that scales have changed a bit since the last time I bought one. What's a good model? Are the body fat calculators accurate? Any other tips?

I am very happy with my Tanita scale. Model # BF-681W. It also measures body fat%. It weighs in .2 increments. I have found it to be very accurate. I bought it online about 3 months ago for about $50.00 if I recall correctly.

rockinrobin, does the scale you're talking about also measure %of water? I've heard some scales do that..

Yes it does Sweettalker, although I don't find that to be a useful feature. I actually bought it because someone here had recommended it, saying they really liked it. I can't recall who.

Oh, ok, thanks Out of curiosity though, why don't you think it's useful (as in, it's inaccurate and therefore not useful, or, you don't get much water fluctuations so it's not useful, or, you just don't care -- it's not useful)? haha

Umm, I just don't care. I have never really heard about this feature. I'm not sure of it's importance in my weightloss journey or my life at all. I just find it to be a useless feature. I don't track it or anything. I was looking for a Tanita scale with body fat % and this was the only one I could find. I guess it's how they're making their new scales now.

I picked up one of those scales. It was a mixed blessing...the number was higher. Honesty is the best policy with most things, I guess, including scales.

I just bought a WW scale at Costco. It seems pretty accurate. The manual is a little thicker than I have tolerance for with a scale; it says that it will track your weight and show you your loss from your first weigh in to now and you're progress within a 10% loss goal it sets for you.
a couple too many buttons though...

I bought a WW scale from walmart and it is very um honest I don't know all the features it has though, I haven't paid too much attention.

I weigh myself at the gym (on an old school scale) so when I was buying a scale I wanted one that weighed me as close as possible to it. I tried out 6 or 7 scales and they all weighed me about the same, except for the WW scale which weighed me 6lbs higher.

I ended up going with a Taylor scale, and I'm quite pleased with it so far.

I didn't realize that I've been so out of things until I discovered that the scale came with its own manual. EGAD!?! I bought the Taylor and I think I'm getting the hang of it. I have to say, it's brutally honest like a really good friend.
