I hate weekends!!!

  • Although I love having the weekend off! I miss the schedule of my diet during the week!!
  • I totally can relate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I can also relate. Weekends are sometimes the hardest when trying to stick to your plan.

  • I think EVERYONE can relate! I actually did well this weekend as opposed to last weekend... I'm back on track now though yay!
  • Weekends are a challenge. Some things that work for me are to have a weekend plan. For example I do lots of cooking for the week on the weekend. As I am home more I used to eat lots of the food for the week on the weekend because it was cooked and right there. Now i portion and freeze food after i have already eaten a meal.

I also try to plan for long days out running around by packing healthy snacks and identifing healthy choices if i am going to eat out. I keep water and low fat high fiber snack bars in the car, also i keep nuts in the car for a protien boost.
I am hoping to start doing more active things one the weekend. I noticed that most of my activites revolve around food so i am trying volunteering (will keep me busy and out of the house) and looking for active things to do like take a walk as the weather improves or visit the musuem for indoor waking. I try not to turn on the t.v. until after dinner to fight my coach potatoe tendency. i come online to this site and catch up on the week of post...

I am not sure if these are the same things you struggle with but i hope they give you some ideas.
  • weekends ooh i hate them so many habits i need to break concerning the weekends!
  • I have the exact same problem. I want flexibility to enjoy my days off so I resist instituting rigid schedules, but at the same time when things aren’t set out is when I get myself into the most trouble. Here is a great quote I have been thinking about a lot lately:

"He who every morning plans the transaction of the day and follows out that plan, carries a thread that will guide him through the maze of the most busy life. But where no plan is laid, where the disposal of time is surrendered merely to the chance of incidence, chaos will soon reign." – Victor Hugo
  • Weekends are gonna be really tough for me when I start my diet. At least during the week, I am majorly busy at work and have a schedule to pass the time. But on the weekends, I'm used to going out with friends and going to lunch or dinner or doing something that somehow revolves around food. My therapist says that this is going to force me to work on my life rather than staying in the same old rut. I'm gonna have to "find my tribe" and find out what types of things interest me, besides lying on the couch and watching TV.

  • I agree, seems I'm trying to make up for my my indulges over the weekend, which makes during the week harder.
  • I can also relate - however, we KNOW this is an issue for many of us. We've just got to PLAN PLAN PLAN!!

Are there things that you ladies CAN do on the weekends? You know just shoot for a couple of basics so you are totally not off plan? Like drink all your water, eat your fruits and V's, maybe get a walk in?

Believe me, I am definitely with you on this, but surely we can figure out together how we can kick the weekend monster's bootie!
  • The weekends have never been an issue for me - I just treat them like any other day. I normally go to the grocery store on Fridays and shop for breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks for the weekend - all my meals are planned. If I do go out to eat, it's usually only one night. If it's not my "treat" meal of the week, it's just another meal in a restaurant where I try to make the best decisions possible.
  • I had never really thought about the weekend thing until I started reading these posts, but it is so right on target. Weekends are hard, I think maybe Velveteen is right, just bringing in one aspect of our weekly plans could serve as a reminder of the rythmn of our healthier weekly schedules.
  • Weekends = diet **** for me too. I'm kinda glad I'm not the only one experiencing this... Its so hard to actively cook and excercise when you want to bum out... and usually all the food is gone. Here are a few ideas I came up with:

    A) Do weekly shopping on friday so you have lots of fresh veggies / fruits at your disposal.

    B) Saturday morning - have brekkie and straight to the gym / workout to get it out of the way!!

    C) Choose and execute at least one activity on the weekend that includes physical excercise (ie. marathon shopping, hike in the woods, walk on the beach, game of tennis, etc)

    D) On friday decide what "un-changeable" events need to occur and plan your weekend around that (like cooking healthy food, excercise, etc.)
Hopefully this will turn into a weekendly routine.

    E) Put a motivational sign / poster on your ceiling so its the first thing you see when you wake up!

    F) Set alarm clock on the weekend!!! (sleeping in throws my diet completely out of wack- i'm not suggesting to wake up at 5am, but 9am rather than waking up at noon- cause then you might excercise!!!)

I hope this helps someone out there!! I'm going for it this weekend...
