Hello Everyone!

  • I've read this site for A while and decided to join today. I am a 49 year old female who has had a battled with weight for most of my life. Five months ago, weighing 299 pounds, I was miserable and in pain (my legs hurt, I always felt sluggish and my eating was out of control).

On September 18, 2006, I decided I couldn't take it anymore. I made up my mind and joined Quick Weight Loss Centers. I walked into the center skeptical (more of myself than of the program) and doubting if there was any help (short of surgery) for me.

Five months later, I am happy to share that I have lost 74 pounds!!!!! I feel great (although I still have a ways to meet my goal). My legs no longer hurt; I walk with sass and confidence and my energy level is amazing!!!! Perhaps QWLC is not the program for you, but I just want to encourage anyone who thinks that weight loss is hopeless to think again. I will be 50 years old in August. On the QWLC program, I eat more food than I ever had in my life -- the difference being -- healthy choices and serving sizes across the entire food pyramid. I started off in a size 22 (that really should have been a size 24). Today I am closing in on a size 14 comfortably. But it's not just cosmetics that got me heat. The bigger prize is a better quality of life. Before QWLC, all I could do was make it to work and back home. Now, I can't seem to find enough things to fill my day!!! Good luck to each of you and remember -- with a made up mind -- there is nothing -- ABSOLUTELY NOTHING -- THAN YOU CANNOT ACCOMPLISH!
  • Good for you. For me it was reading YOU on a diet by Dr. Oz an Roizen. Knowing how my body works has helped me to understand, why I put it on and couldn't keep it off. Now I have also read Superfoods Rx and Superfoods Healthstyle by Dr. Pratt and I am eating healthy for the first time in 45 years.
Good luck I'm glad you found something that worked.

I just have one question. I am 212 and you would be 225. How do you fit in a size 14? I barely fit in a 18.
    Just wondering.
  • Hey there!

I'm so glad that you found something that works for you!!! It sounds like you are feeling a lot better these days.

Keep on with your new life!

  • Hi Sharon:

I read your response to my reply and wanted to answer your question.

My initial answer would be "I don't know." You're correct, I'm down to 225 lbs. What I didn't share on the post is that I have also lost A LOT OF INCHES!!!

That's why I try not to pay too close attention to a scale! It's important but it doesn't always reflect the truth. Another thing perhaps is that I have a big bone structure. Even at my target weight, I won't have small wrists (albeit they are smaller than before). I just spent the weekend cleaning my closet of all of my 18-22 suits and dresses. Size 18's are absolutely too big for me. I'm wearing 16's good and even some 16's that I've both recently as becoming too big.

But remember I used the word "comfortably." What I meant by comfortably is fabric type. I have several size 14 dresses (and even some just plain ole Size L) that fit beautifully. However, the fabric in each of those dresses have "give." That's what I mean by comfortably. Every two weeks, I will go into a store and try on a Size 14 whose fabric does not have any given (say for instance, Linen or Rayon). Since I am a suits type of person (primarily because of my work), that's what I will try. In most cases, the Size 14 skirt fits (snuggly at times -- but I like snug). My problem is my arms are the part of my body that enlarges the most when I gain weight. I have lost many inches in them but they still preclude me from fitting "comfortably" in a size 14.

Let me let you in on something concerning me and the scale. With the Quick Weight Loss program, I have to weigh in three times a week. Each Monday, we also do measurements. There have been weeks whereby the scale will show a 1-1/2 to 2 pound weight gain, while at the same time, I will have lost a total of 2-4 inches. Go figure! So I encourage everyone to weigh yourself but the best measurement of your progress is seeing the inches fade away. I do this by trying on smaller size clothes to see how far I have to go the fit that particular size. If the price is right I will even buy it (yes, even if it doesn't quite fit) and then I use that outfit as my target piece. I get great inspiration and motivation by doing this.

I hope this answers your question. When I figure out how to use this site, I'm going to post before and NOW pictures. (As a postnote, my target weight is 175 -- believe it or not when I reach my goal -- I'm going to be pretty skinny. Hope you are around to see the results. Good luck to you -- stay motivated!
