Unsupportive Mate?

  • I was just curious if anyone else has found resistance and a lack of support for your Fat Smash Dieting?

I haven't minded the diet so far(day 9). I make my own meals and my boyfriend makes his. My boyfriend thinks i am eating like a gerbil and that it is an unhealthy diet since it does not include meat during the first phase. He is one of the main reasons I have wanted to get into better shape, but all i've found is resistance.

    Any advice?
  • I understand and am with you 100%. My husband and I initially said we were going to do this together. Went to the book store, picked out Dr. Ian's book and everything. I knew his participation would not last long, but I figured he would be support. Boy was I wrong. He is not very support at all. So I know exactly what you mean. I guess for me I just think about when I reach my goal, and how GOOD I will look and feel.... that will be the icing on the cake!
  • Alot of people are under the mistaken impression that meat<animal meat> is the ONLY way we get protien. Educate him about other sources. Ask him why he's concerned about it, what he thinks will happen. There's also the fat that many people in this world eat zero animal products, no eggs, cheese, yogurt, milk, etc yet they're fine.
  • I guess I am fortunate that my dh is doing FS with me. He has supported me from the beginning. He has lost over 50 lbs so far. He has about 20 left to lose. He has a friend who is a doctor... he told dh that FS sounded like a very healthy plan. You aren't missing any nutrients. I wonder why some people are determined to keep us FAT??? My mom said that FS didn't sound healthy to her. lol. I said... "SO?" I am not doing this for her. I am doing this for me. Maybe your boyfriend is comfortable with your weight. He may feel threatened by you losing weight. Just a few thoughts. Some men are scared that when women lose.. they may not want to be with them anymore. Of course.. I am just throwing some ideas out there.

Beans, tofu, eggs... all GREAT sources of protein. Without all of the fat.

Keep it up! You are doing great!

  • Thank you for your responses. It makes it a little more bearable knowing that I'm not the only one who has to find the inner-strength to accomplish my goals.

Hopefully once he realizes how much better I am looking and feeling - and that I haven't left him- he will be more supportive
