Family and Dieting

  • Okay. I really want this diet to work this time but, I find my family just wants to me be the same. I try to cook healthy dishes, and everyone complains about the portions of thefood and the food choice.

I mean come on, I can't be on a diet and eat fried chicken and mash potatoes and gravy every nights. I wish it could be easier but at this point, I just want to throw my family out. Does anybody goes through this or is it just me?
  • I think it is a common problem! Mine used to whine about it all the time. You just have to stick to it though...you HAVE to take care of yourself! If you can handle making changes one step at a time, they might not be as resistant to it. I find it hard, but I do make some stuff for the family that I can't eat. I just don't eat it. If your family includes younger kids, make sure you explain to them you are trying to stay healthy, and the crap that kids seem to like is NOT healthy. Good luck! You CAN do it, it just takes a LOT of determination. But, you ARE worth the effort!
  • I cook one meal, give my husband larger portions, sometimes add a starch to his that I'm not having. The best thing you can do for your family is get them to eat healthy, especially children so that they don't issues with weight as they get older. Stick to your guns, they can adjust.
