Weigh in at Home 2/5 - 2/11

  • Hi all,

Mom2 - Congrats to your Colts. They're a classy team with an even classier coach. Enjoy the win!

Jenny - I hope the water retention is easing for you.

Judy - Thanks for rooting on the Bears. Sad loss, but they were the underdogs going in. We were outplayed and especially out-quaterbacked. I hope you're feeling better and that you were able to nip the bronchitis in the bud.

I had an ok weekend. My eating wasn't as good as it could have been, so I may be paying the price at the scale on Wednesday. We'll see. I'm ready to hop on the stationary bike in a little bit to work some of it off. We're still in a deep freeze - it was -6 when I brought Ana to school, so I'll be indoors staying warm as much as I can.

    Have a great day.

  • Mom2 - congratulations on your Colts winning.

Carla - sorry about the Bears. It's a real accomplishment to make it to the Superbowl and even though I know you are disappointed, I hope you enjoyed the whole experience of it. Just a few more days until pitcher and catchers start Spring training! Brrrr, -6??? It was 8 degrees here this morning, and it's climbed all the way up to 17 ;-) I hope it's not windy your way too (although Chicago is the "windy city.") Good for you for getting on the stationary bike!

I guess the antibiotics have kept the bronchitis to a "not-the-worst" case but I'm still coughing my head off and feeling generally miserable. It would help if I could get a good night's sleep but after 4 hours the cough medicine wears off and I have to get up to take some more. I do feel a bit better today but still stayed home again and may end up doing the same thing tomorrow. I can't afford to relapse. I've resigned myself to not making it to my yoga class on Wednesday - I have extra help for Math early Wed morning and don't think it will be a good idea (no matter how well I feel) to make it a long day. I know it's just one class and I intend to continue with this teacher and also know that I will get back to some activity once I'm feeling better.

My eating hasn't been bad - lots of soup which helps the congestion but it also adds plenty of sodium. Today I had Trader Joe's fabulous tomato soup - 2 points a cup and worth every one - its was soooo yummy! I did make the 1 point WW turkey chili in honor of the Superbowl yesterday (well, I chopped the stuff up and Tony cooked it) so we have a number of good low point meals this week. It's a great over some brown rice. I'm trying to get back to snacking on veggies with some low point dips as well as fruit and try to stay away from the salty snacks that seem to just make me want to have more. I'm also trying to get my milks in which I haven't been as diligent about recently.

Have a great one and for those of us in the deep freeze, stay warm!

  • Judy - Well, those first 14 seconds of the game with Hester's kickoff return were a real thrill. Actually the whole 1st quarter was enjoyable. My heart kind of breaks for Rex Grossman. The poor kid just wasn't ready and now he's taking another pounding in the press. I'm sorry to hear that you're still feeling under the weather. I hope it all clears up soon. I think it's a good idea to not make Wednesday a long day - best not to tire yourself. Take care of yourself.

  • I lost 1.6lbs this week.

    Feeling really good about that.

We tried to have a generally *healthy* party with a few friends over. I made white chicken chili (YUMMY!) and a couple of walmart deli cheese pizzas and added my own turkey pepperoni. We also had baked chips and salsa and some pretzels. One of my friends brought some homemade splenda cookies. All of this healthy food really helped me stay on program.

    It was a good week!
  • Judy -- Hope you feel better soon! I have this cough I can't shake as well, and I keep ignoring it but I suppose I should eventually just suck it up and go to the doctor. I never go to the doctor unless I have a broken limb or something.

Carla -- Hope you're doing well -- stay warm!!

    Marcia -- Congratulations on losing 1.6 -- that's fantastic!

I lost 2 pounds this week, and my overall total is now 70 pounds lost!
  • It sure has been quiet around here! Of course, I've contributed to that ;-)

Marcia - Congratulations on that great loss! Good for you for making a generally "healthy" party. It sounds like quite a delicious menu!

Lisa - congratulations on a great loss and a fabuous total - 70 pounds, WOW! I hope you cough is better and if it's not that you have gone to the doctor to check it out. I have a history with bronchitis - know when I'm getting it and know when I have to see the doctor and I don't hesitate to go.

It was a bit of a rough week health-wise and somewhat program-wise. I was out Monday and decided to stay home Tuesday just to be sure. I had early, extra help for math on Wed & Thurs mornings (long story, state test preparation, only 6 weeks of extra help) and wanted to make those. It turned out though that by Wed morning I felt like I was slipping backwards health-wise. I did manage to do both extra help sessions but didn't last much longer than that. I finally decided to go to see the doctor on Thursday - I just didn't feel as if I was feeling as well as I should have with the antibiotics. It turns out it was a wise decision even if I had had to be "squeezed in" and had to wait a long time to see him (he was running behind schedule too.) I got another round of antibiotic (the type I usually take) as well as an inhaler as I had developed a little asthmatic complication (I had that happen once before.) I was home yesterday and between the antibiotic, the inhaler and rest, I do feel better than I did on Thursday. Of course yseterday, I awoke to a not-too-nice surprise - TOM - after not having it for 6 months! I figured I was half way to menopause and know I'm starting to count all over again. In addition, it came back with a vengeance and I've been *very* crampy. My eating was pretty good this week, except for last night - I didn't go too nuts but I was definitely in the "poor me" frame of mind. I guess TOM and last night make the 0.2 gain today nothing to get upset about. I did go weigh in but then came home. We have plans for an early (and short) dinner with my parents at a nice, local fish restaurant. Other than that, I'm resting and doing my planning for next week at school. I did a little restorative yoga yesterday (nothing strenuous, very relaxing) for the cramps but that's it for the short-term.

    Have a great weekend!
    Judy
