Starch question - confused

  • Okay ... if I have pita bread, an entire 4-" pita pocket is considered one starch? However, three reduced fat Triscuits also equals one starch?

Am I reading my food planner wrong?

I went to Trader Joe's yesterday and picked up a bag of whole wheat, small pita bread (eyeballing it, it looked about 4" ... it was the smallest they had). Do I eat the whole thing or cut it in half?
  • Aaahhh.... the inequities of the program. The whole 4" whole wheat pita is 70 calories and is 1S. And a 2oz bagel at 110 calories is 1S, but only 1 slice of 40 calorie bread.

But my book (with updated program changes like 3c lettuce) says 5 rf tricsuits is 1S.
  • I often use the 4" pitas to make sandwiches for lunch. I just cut them open so that it's like 2 slices of very thin bread. I find it easier to get all the stuff on there that way. If I just try to stuff it I always end up ripping it.

I don't get it either, about crackers vs bread vs pita vs tortilla....but I just do what they say...lol.
