New Fat Smasher

  • Today I Start My 7th Day Of Detox. I Have Been Doing Weight Watchers For 6 Years And When I Couldn't Lose The Weight I Gained Back, I Decided To Try Something New. I Don't Like Being Restricted In The Foods I Eat. I Miss Soup And Cream Of Wheat And My Weight Watcher Desserts. I Am Sick Of Eating Brown Rice And Egg Whites. I Did Discover That I Love Grilled Vegtabtables. I Put Them In My Salad Now. I Do Not Like Beans Which Is Needed On This Diet. Only Baked Beans Which Is Not Allowed. I Also Realized That If I Don't Eat Something With Sugar In It Like, A Donut Or Candy, My Body Won't Crave It. This Week Has Been Real Tough For Me. I Am Glad I Didn't Give Into Any Of The Temptations At Work. In Fact Working 8 Out Of The 9 Days Of Phase One Has Helped Me. Ian's Book Doesn't Give Enough Information About Foods That I Normally Eat. How Do I Know If I Am Able To Eat Them On This Diet? Any Information And Support Would Be Greatly Appreciated.
  • Hi -

I was a former Weight Watcher until I started this diet. Overall I modify it a bit to my owns tastes but I do like it much more than Weight Watchers. Yes I could eat anything I wanted as long as my points stayed where they needed to be but I also found I ate more crap - frozen dinners w/ lots of preservatives and additives. After being on Fat Smash since last fall, I don't crave all that crap any longer. I now want fresh pineapple or grapes for a dessert - not a real dessert. Now once in awhile I will indulge but only when I have stuck to my exercise plan and then I don't feel a bit guilty. It did take a good 3 months or so of Fat Smashing until I really didn't crave junk any longer. I don't eat any beans at all I have made this diet work. Please let me know if you have specific questions about the diet, I would be happy to help. I am also detoxing right now because I am only 4 lbs away from my goal weight but when I get to my goal, I plan to go straight to the final phase where I can have some cheese (although I now use the Veggie Shreds brand fake mozzarella and like it), some bread and whole wheat pasta. These are things I love the most and were hardest for me to give up. I use low sodium soy in my rice and veggies while detoxing as well as cooking my rice and veggies in chicken broth or veggie broth - this improves the flavor greatly. I also use a little olive oil when necessary and eat soy nuts when I need a snack. I add protein powder to my fruit smoothies to get more protein since I don't eat beans and I love the smoothies I make because they are like milkshakes to me. I know we aren't supposed to have Splenda but I do add it to my oatmeal (it hasn't hurt my weight loss) and I use Vanilla yogurt (pre-sweetened w/ splenda) in my smoothies. I think you can make this diet work with some experiementing w/ the recipes here (I love the phase 1 pizza). Good luck. Lem
  • lskeller - I'll bet you won't be so sick of that rice once you weigh in a couple of days from now A nice loss is always motivating! One recipe I have enjoyed during Phase I is veggie soup. I get 3 cans of low sodium chicken broth and a huge bag of fresh frozen veggies. The veggies contain salt but I rinse them off and throw in the crock pot. I also add Lentils (ps - I HATE beans but lentils are actually pretty good), and brown rice. Fresh veggies are probably a better choice, but this is quick and easy. Takes less than 5 minutes to pop into the crockpot. This time a year a warm cup of soup really hits the spot for me! I also add low doium soy sauce to my rice. Putting it in the soup makes it even easier! Good for you on working out 8 days - that is great! Good luck!
