Flavored water ok?

  • This might be a stupid question but i really get tired of drinking plain water! So when I was at walmart today I picked up some 1 liter bottles of Sam's Choice clear american flavored sparkling water. Is that ok in place of just regular water everyday? Im sure I'll get tried and switch back and forth but I was just wondering? All the nutrition facts on the back of the bottle says Zero. Thanks for reading my silly question of the day..lol....
  • Lol, not a silly question at all. I was wondering the same thing the other day. Water myths & facts here says:

    Quote:
A lot of our members ask if flavored water counts [towards your daily fluid intake, that is]. It's a fluid and it counts. If you don't like tap water, drinking flavored waters may help you drink more.
So, flavored water, like any other liquid, counts towards your daily liquid intake -- and those zero calories flavored water do not count as food intake or so.

    Cool eh?
  • Thanks so much!! ;-)
  • I don't like the taste of flavored water but I LOVE the taste of water with three thick cucumber slices in it.
  • Honestly, the carbonated fruit flavored waters are essentially the same as diet sodas...they have the artificial flavors, artificial sweeteners, carbonation, and all the other stuff. They call them flavored water to make them sound better for you. A Diet Sprite is essentially the same thing.

All fluid that does not contain caffeine can count towards fluid-BUT-water is best, and that fluid intake should definitely include some.
  • I flavor my own water. Cucumber or a squeeze of lemon isn't enough flavor for me, so I do almost a whole liter of water with just about 1/4-1/2 cup of pure cranberry juice (not from concentrate, the ONLY ingredients are cranberry juice and ascorbic acid). It's MUCH better than plain water to me, plus I have complete control over how many calories and how many chemicals are in it. Personally, I'd rather add 20 or so calories of something pure and healthy than to go with a bunch of artificial stuff.
  • Jellybean, you're brilliant! I don't have a problem drinking water, I love it. But adding part Cranberry juice is a great idea for something different. DH drinks a glass every morning, I don't because of the calories. But today I'll pour some in my water, it'll add 130 calories for 8oz but I'm always short of calories by the end of the day anyway.
I have added lemon juice before, never heard of adding cukes. I'll have to wait until summer before trying that one.
