  • Good morning!

Well I made it back from Chicago. It was warm there on Friday (43) compared to the 16 we had here. The flights were a little rocky because of the weather coming in last night--I'm not a big fan of commuter planes and that's what we have to take.

Pam: My DH turns 50 in July. How did the celebration go?

KarynLee: Congratulations on Lifetime!!! My hands would've been shaking too!

Susan: DId you have fun with your sister this weekend?

Not too much going on here--we're still getting more lake effect snow and it's supposed to continue through the week. I didn't have that great of a weekend with eating but it could've been worse. I'll catch up more later.
  • Hi ladies,

Still very chilly here but still no snow in the forecast. I can't remember a January like this one!

John's party on Friday night was nice. We went to a relatively new restaurant that was very good. Had gelatto and chocolate chip cookies for dessert. John had no issues at all with turning 50...in fact he's very happy to reach that age. His grandfather died at 48 and John's dad died one month shy of his 50th. He didn't dwell on it, but I know he was a little nervous. He's in very good health but there's not much you can do about heredity.

Melissa Glad you got home safely and the temps were relatively mild.

Hi to Lisa, Karynlee and Susan hope you all had a great weekend. I'll try and stop by again later.
  • I had already started the thread this morning, but I guess no one saw it, so I copied my post here:

Good "chilly" morning! It was 41 degrees here today--quite chilly for sunny Florida. It's all right as long as it doesn't hang around. I get to wear some of my pretty sweaters.

Had a good weekend. On Friday, DH and I attend a play, The Seven Year Itch. It was an amusing show. On Saturday I worked at the church rummage sale all day. I got a few things including a great London Fog rain jacket that will work well for my trip to London in March. On Sunday I went shopping with a GF and found a few good deals on slacks (tall ones) and a cute skirt that was 75% off.

I stayed OP most of the weekend.

The worst part of the weekend was that I received my home insurance bill. I don't know if any of you know about the insurance crisis in Florida, but ever since the hurricanes, we have been raped by the insurance companies. Our bill is $7400 (you read it right). I'm looking for other insurance, but it's hard to find. I think we will have to leave Florida if this keeps happening.

    So, how is everyone else?
  • Sheepishly saying hi.

I have been so remiss (again). I have no idea why.

    I miss you guys.

I'll be back in a bit, but thanks to Susan for stopping by and saying hi on my blog.

Let's put it this way, I need to be here.

    lala
  • Lisa: I didn't see your post when I started this one; I don't know if there was a "time delay" or what I love a good deal and it sounds like you got some great ones! I can't imagine having to pay that much for insurance, you're right, you're being raped by the insurance companies!

Pam: It stopped snowing here for the time being; tomorrow we're supposed to get another clipper swinging through. The lake still isn't frozen so the storms are picking up the moisture from the lake. I'm sure your DH had a little sigh of relief by reaching 50. I know my mom and her sisters held their breath because both of their parents died at 58/59 (a week apart).

Lala: I've missed your posts! I've seen a couple stories on TV about Seattle and the nice weather you've been having. Someday I'd like to see the Emerald City...

    Have a great evening everyone!
  • Lisa sorry I didn't see your post this morning. After reading how much you pay for homeowners insurance I will never complain about mine again. $7,400 is outrageous! Sounds like you had a nice weekend and what a great deal on the skirt. I forgot you are going to London in March..it will be here before you know it!

Lala BACK! I still read your blog pretty regularly and was hoping you would come back and post with us again.
  • I've had that happen before where I either start a thread or post a reply and it doesn't show up. Hmmm

lala, welcome back!!! We've missed you. I had read on your blog that you've been ill. I sure hope you spunky again.

Melissa, So, how much snow do you have on the ground?

We had another cold morning--41 degrees. It will start warming up to the
70s in another day or so. That's Florida!
  • Hi everybody.

Lisa: I got my condo insurance bill for the coming year. After seeing yours, there will be no complaints...

    lala: Welcome back.

Pam: 50 wasn't a big deal for me, but I certainly understand your DH's perspective.

Melissa: You've been getting some winter! Still no snow here, but cold...

    Hi to Karynlee.

My sister and I had a great weekend downtown. We shopped, dined, ran, swam, sat in the hot tub and bar-hopped all weekend. I needed that!

Eating great on the weekend. Since then, however, I've not done well. I need to pick it up again.

    Susan
  • Hi All.

Bringing up the rear here on the West Coast.

Took Ernest in this am to have a tooth looked at and an abcess cleaned out from his obsessive compulsive chewing. No more sticks for the boy! He had to be knocked out and everything. Not fun.

I am better. This cold is no fun. It is so nice here I want to go outside, so I think I will as soon as DP can come home and take over dog care. I could use a nice loong walk.

I need to read to catch up, but everyone looks like they are doing quite awesome. I hit a wall, went over my heaviest weight, found out about my high cholesterol, took a good look at my future and decided that this is my year.

    So, here I am again.

Its amazing what you can do if you use, say the tools you are given including choice.

    more later,

    lala
  • Susan, your weekend sounds like so much fun. How great! I think you needed it.

lala, Please join the challenge that Susan started. It sure helped me get back on the Program. High cholesterol is no fun and if you take prescriptions, they make you sicker.

    Sorry about poor Ernesto.

Hello to Karynlee, Pam, Austingal and other lurkers
  • Where is the challenge thread? I'm in.

    lala
  • Alright, I found Susan's challenge and I'll go for it.

    Need to be focus.

    Two weeks. Yoikes.

    lala
  • Weighed in today--no change. I think that I've been eating too late in the day and that hasn't helped. I'll keep plugging.
  • I also weighed in and I'm up 2.5 lbs. I know I haven't been following the program but I have to admit I was surprised at that big a gain. It really is much different this time around - much harder to lose that is. It likely has to do with my age, but it is an adjustment - one I'll have to make.

I am not giving up. 5 lbs or close to it is still do-able provided I stay OP.

    Susan
  • Hi ladies,

Finally..... I'm down one pound!! It is very slow going this time but at least I'm back in the 120's.

I'll be back with more later.
